I have been following this thread and I still can not get my Quad to work properly with videos. I installed the latest mapper version 2.1. All audio files and contols work great!!! The second I load a video on to one of the decks, I loose my pfl volumes for my channels that are controlling VDJ decks 1 & 2. Now the audio files are the same way. I can not pre listen through the headphones. The software has to be restarted, and everything is fine. (until I try loading a video). Does anyone know how to fix this?? Please, please help.

Make sure you have Auto Headphones set to Disabled on the Config -> Options tab.

First, that Video was done a year ago, by Numark and without any input from VirtualDJ. They didn't even release the unit until just a couple months ago. And on top of that, they decided not to release it with VirtualDJ LE and therefore did not include us in the development process.

So, what does that leave us with. It leaves us with a hardware unit that only has 2 audio channels on the sound card - hence, 1 out for left side and 1 out for right side. If we would have been involved from the beginning - I would have insisted that they re-tract and market the VirtualDJ support correctly OR improve the hardware to support the before mentioned marketing.

As to 'making it 4 decks' - you could still make it 4 decks in 'control' but not in 4 decks of dedicated audio output. Basically, Decks 1 and 3 would output to USB1 and Decks 2 & 4 would output to USB2. It is not the ideal and requires the DJ to be very attentive to what they are doing - but it can be done.




Well considering you don't get an LE when buying this controller and you don't have a PRO license, then your options are still open to purchasing a product that truly supports 4 decks of mixing. There are plenty of options on the market.

CDs might be lame but have you ever tried to navigate an external drive with several GB's of songs on the small LCD's on something like this? it is a real pita. CD back up is more reliable and professional looking than relying on an Ipod if your computer goes out mid-gig. Using the mixdeck the change over is seamless and your client might not even notice the laptop went down. Sure you don't have ALL your music but with a couple hundred mix CDs and a printed index you can still cover a lot of genre's and find things pretty quick. That is the real advantage of the Mixdeck over other midi only controllers. If you don't want to have the CD option there are plenty of other 4 deck controllers out there.

The usb inputs are nice for flash drives with a playlist or maybe up to 100 songs or so but anything more than that gets to be quite tedious. I usually use mine for backup of the must haves the client has asked for in a single folder with printed reference list in the order they are in the folder or a backup playlist with up to 100 or so songs that would be appropriate for the event but the printed list really comes in handy when trying to navigate to a song those LCDs just are tough to see and navigate with. Would be nice of Numark would take gemini's lead and angle the LCDs towards the user instead of making them flush to the surface.

And in the unthinkable event your computer goes all to hell you can even book events using your CD backups to earn cash to replace the laptop :)
