Topic: Any news about 5.1 ? - Page: 1

I think if any developer can give any update about 5.1 release.
Some hints about aproximate date release, major bugs fixed, some improvements and new features planned.
It seems that it had to be released in febraury or march. Any development problems ? Other upgrades and versions took ony 2-3 months.

Another question when wil Products - Software - History be online again ? It very useful to watch changelog and date release of vdj versions

Well the update will only be available to licensed users, so please register your copy of VDJ. This question has been asked in several different areas and the answer is always the same "soon" so we are all waiting patiently.
 
Yes. I already know this answer: soon. I was lookin for somethin more specific. What bugs are developers correcting or workin on, any new features expected to be in 5.1 or
what's the main work in virtual dj ( ex: video engine, sound engine, playlist, database, plugins, bpm calculation ...).

hehe, that's what my dad used to always tell me when I asked "when" questions.lol

Seriously though, think of it like baking bread. You could just toss it in the microwave for quicker results, might make ya sick too. Same with software, they could rush the release & it may or may not be stable, but the better option is to cook/ test thouroghly & cut down the number of "revision" updates that must be released;^]
 
I never understood how no licence users request stuff. This is just me but if I had an cracked or unregistered version. I would not go on a forum and act like I one of members. Some of the non registered needs to respect what their doing as wrong in everyway. We realize it's there choice to do what they do but as least respect the members. That's like to going to the country club with a free pass and start hacking away on the course along the way using no ettiquete(sp) with other member there who paid great money to use the services. I'm not saying the above person is disrespectful, it just baffles me in how many people think AND feel there intitled. This goes outside of VDJ as well.
 
Totally agree with you.

I dont want developers say that tomorrow wil 5.1 be released.

I just want some infomation about vdj development. I know many things are secret due to competitors ( something i cant understand but its respectable).
As i said before some news about what are working around, what improvements are expected, etc ... ( video engine, audio engine, midi controllers, database, plugins ....)

 
Well having been a member since 30 Aug 06, one would wonder what your plans are and what you are expecting with all of these questions.
 
Well Fat, lets think about this for a minute....think of all the illegal immigrants coming into the U.S. and then expecting all of our social services. Seems to be a trend in a lot of peoples thinking. I was born, hence I deserve......I can't figure it out either dude...drives me crazy. I can almost guarantee one thing. ATOMIX is not going to give all the cracked, non-licensed, users citizenship.....
 

@ejgutierrez, please support the development of VirtualDJ 5.1 and purchase a license copy.

You will find you will get alot more respect from us. Stop using cracked or dodgy copies of VirtualDJ.

Don't wanna hijack this to a political debate, but I feel I should point out illegal immigrants do not recieve social security unless they've forged citisenship documents. I recieve both SSI and SSDI & upon application proof of citisenship status is required;^]
 
I was referring too public schools and hospital care and emergency services more than that type of thing Timmy .. ;-)

Well you got me there, I personaly wouldn't want to deny them those things but then as a man with mostly Irish ancestory I'm very sympathetic to their struggle;^]

What that meant is that you have been around long enough to know the program's features and as a member for a calendar year and a half means you are not using the demo anymore.
While other members here read and comment negatively, Atomix would want you to do the right thing and become a legit Pro user of the software.
You have demonstrated in your post of the details and concerns that you obviously use the software in some form and after 18 months it is not the demo version.

To answer your original question, the next version isn't even in general beta form yet.
The focus is on perfection and not new features, although there might be a couple of things to make you want to purchase it.
Hoping to see better security also, so even more reason to be legal about it and not wait.
You buy it now, and the updates are free is another reason.

I understand what you are saying but maybe they request these things so that they can actually buy the program. I myself have the home edition once the features I need are available trust me I will be upgrading faster than Beyonce...
 
The was not a negative comment what so ever. This was a blanket statement of the attitude of intitlement by some not all. I do appreciate how you like to protect the masses but in this case it is not needed. This comment can be said about many things as well as current members. nothing to be arguemenitive about. Remember this is a general forum and as long as it stays clean and hurts no one, its just a regular conversation.
 
As i said lots of time before: i wouldnt buy virtualdj until it suits my needs.
Its too expensive and i know im a little dumb but i wont spent near 300 euros only to make some people happy.

My requests were:

- winamp and windows media player visualizations support
- better database management ( winamp or wmp or amarok)
- better stability. Suppose related with better beta-testers ( seems vdj its not fully tested before a release because you have to release a 5.0.1 bugfix and 5.0.2 ...).
If not make like many linux and open software: update service with bugfixes, security upgrades, etc ... But every week or two not every three months. If you fix a bug. why as a user have i to wait until next version is out ? Bugfixes and security issues have to be public almost at same time they are fixed.
- plugins ( audio and video) and skins official: official ones have to pass a quality test by dev team and has to suit one version ( it gives many compatibility problems and crashes).
- better bpm calculation.

As you can see not to far about vdj its nowadays.

As some people say before: this is a forum free and open to everyone. If im a licensed user or not it hasnt to be a problem. I can support people with my experience and
share my little knowledge.

 
Well lets answer these in order.

- I don't use the visualizations, can't address that

-The database management is very very very good. Way better than WMP or Winamp. Neither of those two give me the potions of placing my music folders where I want them to be. They put it in a folder and thats that. VDJs search feature is way way way better than those two programs as well.

-18 months of hard use with multiple controllers and PCs and not one crash that I didn't immediately know the cause of (static, or me changing skins while the program is playing two songs at once that type of thing)

-Yes it is only fair that skins and pluggins are approved by ATOMIX. If a bad skin or pluggin were released to the general public that caused nothing but heartaches we all know who would get blamed...ATOMIX.

-I have been assured a new BPM engine is being worked on as we speak. Which would give more accurate BPM calculations.

The Linux question has been asked many many times I am sure its being investigated. The bug fixing is being addressed from what I have been told. To minimize upgrade to resolve bugs is also being addressed.

You are, of course, most welcome to join us and share whatever knowledge or experience you might have. So, please reconsider purchasing the product, you would find yourself most welcome by everyone who has bought it before you.....
