The problem with that video is, he's not using timecodes cause that unit doesn't support it. But yeah I've posted that video cause it shows off some of VDJ effects in good use plus he's pretty badass, lol!

I know, I said it would be my last post earlier on...but...

it seems to me that:

you care too much about the name of the app which is unimportant - it could be called toaster or frying pan for all i care..
you care more about who other than yourself is using it...
colored waveforms are not all that btw, i prefer the way it is now... even over the other *famous* dj apps with colored waveforms

what is important, and will always be more important than anything else is the sound.

I have not been on the forum lately because of school, I log on and I just find surprises. I hope the new VirtualDJ delivers it's usual good quality and more! Please take your time as long as it has good audio and if you can some good looks too. I like the way VDJ is now, but I'm not so sure about the djDecks skins. As an architecture student aesthetics and quality of the end product are key. Maybe have profiles depending on the type of event. Wedding, Club, etc. Good luck Virdual DJ and Congratulations!

It's amazing how much hate there is on that link aswell as the Skratchworks site. Most of the people are really uninformed. It's kinda irritating. And as far as "perception being a reality", get real!! If your not gonna use VDJ because another Dj look down on you, its obvious you got bigger problems!! The only people who give a shit what your using is another Dj!! I've never had anybody say anything to me about what I use and not cause I'm billy badass either. It's because I can usually do everything their software can do plus more!! Besides its already to late to change it cause they said its called VDJ8.......as far as colored waves goes, surfs up dude. I don't ride waves so it doesn't matter......and this crap about skins, if you don't like it change it!! Yeah that's another feature we have that no one else does........

People say they love VDJ here but yet they want to change everything about it??

Unfortunately, this article is very one sided and biased and it only fuels the haters.

I've used VDJ in the past and have never really been a fan of it. I found it to be too much like a toy more so than a professional dj software package. Ive had crashes too. I've been working with Gwen (adionsoft) and DEX since it's inception on the beta team and it is one of the most stable pieces of software out there and let's me do anything I need or want to do. I'm thoroughly excited for VDJ to be bringing in one of the best DEVs for DJ Software. VDJ is about to get really serious as a solid dj package. Can't wait to see what happens.
 
Aside from the software, the level of direct company and community support for VDJ is unparalleled. I have spent time lately looking at other software and their support forums and it's clear how far ahead Virtual DJ is.

3 years ago I was an outspoken critic of the way Atomix handled updates and moderated the forums. I can now look back somewhat embarrassingly and realise how wrong I was.

The software is pretty good at the moment but somewhat "dated" with features and modules added over the years. A complete code re-write will mean VDJ is technically a brand new product and will leave the stigma some people have behind.

This is great news for the future, and I'm sure the hard work and dedication of the coders, teamers and beta testers will be for everyones benefit.

I just cannot understand why the mention of crashes keep popping up from, I moved to VDJ many years ago and over the last four years I can count on one hand the amount of times I've experienced any crashes, before that i was green and stupid for a few years, plus I don't use any high end specs either.

The reason for those crashes lays firmly at my own door I may add and I would suggest this is the main problem with others, The lappy was bought for dj work only and the only tweeks I originally made was to get rid of Norton and the crap that lets you play with all the cutie stuff on your display screen.

I think to many people try to over tweek their systems and add so much extra third party junk into VDJ is where the real problem lies.

The way I look at it is, if you can't get it through this site then don't get it at all.
 
Yeah, Tayla, I'm with you. I've been using VDJ/CUE since v3. I've had two crashes. One was not software, or hardware related. It was a static charge. The other, and this was with v4, I tried switching skins while mid-gig. Both of my crashes either I caused by me being stupid, or nature intervened. Virtual has been rock solid for me for five years now....
 
Virtual DJ never crashes on my laptop (gig machine) or my editing machine (which runs demanding programs/tasks simultaneously), I dare say that multi-tasking in conjunction with less stable software, on a less powerful machine could lead to some problems, but you shouldn't be doing that in a "performance" environment.
 
I just wish that all features will be both available in Mac and Windows.
