Anybody ever try this or is it cheesy looking? It eliminates trussing etc.

Basically a big ballon that you put a tv on?
a few problems instantly come to mind;
Will there be enough air to hold up say a big TV?
hat happens when the TV gets hot? Wont the plastic melt on the ballon?
What about if someone catches it with a buckle on their shoe and it pops? Bye bye telly?
Also, how dose it not fall over lol.

Danny, I think it is just an inflatable projection screen only. You need a projector. It is both front and rear projection tho.

The inflatable frame is a GREAT idea but I would still want to anchor it to something more substantial. If you use this outdoors you would still have to tie it all down so you might as well use a stand or truss system.
I would not want to deal with the water they recommend you put in the pontoons for added weight.
I haven't been able to get past the price for screens so I build my own. But I don't do this for a living so I can afford to cut corners.

I'm thinking that it would be tricky to make the screen exactly vertical and with the screen frame being so light weight I guess even the slightest draught would make it wobble. And it would take a while to set up because of pumping it up each time.
For a quicker 80 inch screen here's what I have:

I've Velcro-ed a light piece of wood to the back of the screen to give it horizontal tension.

its a little cheesy ;-)
but, i gotta say, the price's have sure come down on those things,
especially since the "pro" draper rear-projection stand alone screens are still over $1500! and their harder to set up.

Perhaps there's something I'm missing with the whole DJ-Screen spandex thing, but isn't that massively overpriced!?
For my own version I've just ordered a piece of white lycra (spandex) and in the UK, a 1.5x2 metre piece cost me less than £20 ($25-$30) and then probably £10 on some nice string/ elastic cords to hold it in place, and if it looks like it's going to fray, then I'll have to sew along the edges (free if you know someone with a sewing machine).
My piece of lycra hasn't arrived yet, so we'll have to see how it works, but as far as I can see, there's nothing special about the material they use for that DJ-Screen product.

I have a inflateable screen I use for my mobile parties. I love it it cost about 200.00 US and I have even rented it out for movie nights. Paid for itself in one month.

Hi all,
Just thought i'd add my remarks here.
I cuurently use a lycra screen to great effect.
Made myself with shop bought lycra, sewed triangular tabs on the corners and added eylets.
Screen works excellently for both front and rear projection. There is some loss of intensity through rear projection but nothing too noticable.
Pictures below! Happy New Year!

Question for rear projection, How do I correct lettering so it's forward facing in a rear projection situation? Appreciate your help with this!

that is done with settings on your projector.

I will check it out, thanks for the quick response!

How do you determine what size lycra you need? I've for a pair of Tripds and was thinking of making a pait of custom bars for the top and bottom so I can adapt them for a video screen.
Let's say I wanted to go 8'x6'
Also how far back would the projector need to be to use the visible space?
Cheers,
Roy

I many be wrong but I think it all depends on your projector. I have 3 here and each one varies. Maybe try shinning it on one of your walls and measure?

Haven't bought one yet... SO I'll make this a consideration ;-)

Roy, in my opinion, if you can afford it, go with a short throw lens one. Prices really came down,
