Hi I am new to Virtual DJ and have been sampling the 20 day trial. I have 2 CDJ 400's 2 CDJ 1000's and a djm 600. My ist question is the Virual DJ compatable wth the JM 600? if I buy the full pro packag what other equipment will i need to insure the 400's work with virtual DJ? Last question is when recording on he trial version the burnt CD from Itunes seems to get stuck as well as on my ipod. Will this have the same effect with the Virtual pro? Any help before I purchase the Virtual DJ Pro would be of great benifit? Thanks Paul

Hi mp3jrick
I agree versatility is the best policy in a ever changing technology world.
My personal opinion and the basis for my comment was to emphasize the advantages of VDJ over and above the others.
Laying it out in a controller seems to me to be a pretty effective way to communicate that adventage.
Most DJ's and entertainers would choose an easy access tool for quick delivery on what they need to do.
It's just another way of marketing you're strengths

That would be very limiting and totally opposite of what our users have been begging for over the years...can you say NS7?
We had thread after thread BEGGING for support of this unit.
If we were dedicated to Hercules or any other company exclusively, where would that leave the rest of our users?

If Virtual dj was rocksolid, they would have the same fame.. We all want this for virtual dj. We want stabilty, The features should be the second thing in mind..
that would be the most important. we want a stable, rocksolid VDJ.

My VirtualDJ is rock solid. I can state the only time I had trouble was static related. Serato would have crashed too. I've crashed Serato...nothing is perfect.....

If I may add one more thing regarding stability.
Along with this versatility we all love so much, we at times are at a bit of a disadvantage when your favorite controller's make firmware and driver changes or MS makes changes and on and on.
So we have to react to those changes to remain ahead of the things that can threaten our gear and reputations through stability.
There are many things that are beyond our immediate control and yes that can make us a bit vulnerable and yes we (VDJ) take the hit when these changes present instability and crashes result.
So it becomes a bit of challenge to keep ahead of these changes which we do our best to do.
When the latest Mac OS was updated a few weeks ago (yes Mac, the most solid platform according to their own users) broke many of the functional controllers we support. So we speedily advise avoiding that update until we find the solution which we do as fast as we can.
Is that all VDJ program stability, or is it the vulnerability we deal with as best we can?
Countless times we (VDJ) has taken the hit for these defects that have nothing to do with our coding, take the B2000 as an example.
Even Behringer dumped this unit because of its inherent problems to create the B3000.
All of us are learing how to keep our gear up and running learning more and more each day, much of which right here networking in this and other forums with users like you all.
So there are your options, and personally I'd rather have my choices than be stuck with software and dedicated hardware that limits my options.
Even MS can't keep their updates perfect as they daily patch and repair things.
Look at the video problems associated with directx versions etc...so we need specific versions for certain video cards?
That is just not realistic as you might and hopfully understand, so we deal with it the best as can be.
Now before we point the finger here, consider all of the factors as there are too many to count.
We have a support team that is as on top of these things as fast as they come along and a developer that stays up nights on end improving the software based on all of the input he gets as fast as he can and I wouldn't want his job.
So lets try not to be so critical, there is much that is not public knowlege going on behind the scenes preparing for the future and although your own priorities may not seem to get addressed right away, our team is constantly bringing these things to light for the good of us all.
Remember, most of us are dj's also and we all have a vested interest in the same things you all do despite what you may think or believe.
It will get better, a lot has happened in the past year or so, most of which is very positive.
For those of you who have been around since 04, just think back for a second, its been quite a ride.

I know many of you like an open box solution with hardware and software included. VirtualVinyl try to be that solution, Hercules Consoles too. But maybe there aren't as good as buy separate components, just like any audio equipment.
Really, 30 years ago nobody will ever think Pioneer will be a standard rater than Technics in a DJ booth. But now, we know; standard booth around the world has 2 Pioneer CDJ-1000 MK2 or 3 and DMJ-800. If any booth has turntables, that are Technics SL-1200 or 1210 no doubt. But in the meanwhile this brands and models rank to be No.1 choice... Many DJs try many options... so now, there are many midi devices out there Which is the best??? well what you want to do?? some like HC-4500, some like CDJ-400, others VCI-300 or NS-7 and others.
Well VirtualDJ let you CHOOSE whatever you may like and use it with your preferred computer (PC or Mac).
Many of us have some preferences over equipment. For my the BEST AUDIO interface is Echo AudioFire 4 by far than other. SSL-3 not even close on audio to this one, also NI Audio 4 or 8 and not really need to mention U46DJ or Maya 44 USB. But hey, that is just me; but I bet this really could be our VirtualDJ recommended audio sound card for VirtualDJ.
About the best controller, well it's about taste and convenience. For me Hercules DJConsole RMX or Steel are good for me. Also like very much Denon HC-4500 and Pioneer CDJ-400. All of those are great for the money. Not expensive like NS7 or VCI-300, but hey if you want them buy it, I just say I prefer invest my money in something else, because I like to use my SL-1210 and tcvs as my top show gear. Again it's just me.
I would recommend always some kind of hardware (computer and devices) that I found rock solid combinations. But VirtualDJ let you search other pads, but you have to know you are in risk, so have to take precautions to have a rock solid alternative.
Each day all computer and devices have upgrades, so I use an Intel T7100 based laptop (2 years old) and a E6600 desktop based computer. Now I recommend Intel P8600 based laptop (or better) and Q9000 based desktops. For VirtualDJ use is better an Intel X4500 video card, than a N-Vidia 7300 or 9300 video card or any ATI H3xxxx or 4xxxx, because I know first works fine and the others don't.
So guys, VirtualDJ also gives you more knowledge in computers and devices ;-)
Cheers
