2nd time in a week .....try to type into search .......freezes , try again software instantly closes (disappears from screen) and no warning , no crashguard

5.2.1 windows xp media centre edition 2 gb ram

C: 79% free

was running soniques and text 2d at the time

i am constantly losing virtual folders also .... starting to think my database is corrupted ???

Many people including myself are experiencing this happen too. I hope they get it fixed in the next build.

Yes, it's starting to be a regular problem for some users. I haven't experience one yet, and fingers crossed I won't.
 
Question for users with this disappearance, are you using XP? I am running Vista and have never had this happen.

I'm on Vista... after i setup a gig last week it shutdown after 10 minutes while I was doing a sound check. I wasn't doing a search, just went to click play on my xponent and bam shut down, no crashgaurd logged. Restarted and it work great for 8 hours non stop.

I had this issue occasionally with XP but it was not a chronic problem, happened once every 40-50 hours of play.

Since I've switched to VISTA I have not had the problem at all.

 
That night when it shut down after 10 minutes the only thing different I used was a brand new screen that was larger than my old one. i did notice that little bug with the min/max screen size problem that many have. When I restarted VDJ I would click in one place and the screen would flash and the mouse cursor was in a different place. I minimized VDJ and tried opening note pad and the same thing happened. To get back to VDJ by doing Alt/Tab(as this was the only way back to VDJ) I then put the screen size to max and had no problem since then. I was able to completely minimize VDJ and open other things without problem. My son was playing around with VDJ at my home xmas party(I was a little tipsy! Oh... it's also my birthday) and he told me that a small error popped up by the clock about some video error but he didn't have a chance to read it then VDJ froze up. He said he closed it and it worked fine for me since then. Again, no crashgaurd logged.
 
Using XP here. I only had it happen once so far. I reduced some of my favorited folders and added a few more virtual folders which only hold about 100 tracks or so each. I also disabled the hotkeys and set VDJ for searches only for the keyboard. Hopefully this might keep it from happening again.

It happened when I clicked the search and fumbled at the keys to type quickly. I might have pressed a hotkey or maybe the folders needed time to "un collapse" or something but it froze a few seconds and disappear. No crashguard.
 
i constantly use my virtual folders ..... close to a hundred of 'em ....

i'm wondering if this is related to my disappearing virtual folders ??

whats running when you see this?

VirtualDJ 5.2.1 ?? or older?
what skin ??

what else is running on your PC? could be a program conflict...

list everything, then we can compare, before we can say that its definately something in VirtualDJ. (Eventhough it looks like VDJ at first)


Things to try... close everything from task bar. Disconnect from Internet..
 
can you also run virtualDJ without any external drives connected.

just do a search for your c:\ files....


i cant get this to happen on my Vista Laptop at the moment, so its something thats less than random.

Funk.... make sure you are not Maximizing VDJ to fit to the screen resolution. You WILL have issues if you are Maximizing VDJ to fill the screen. I am not talkin about the 2nd output I am talkin about the skin.
 
Could it also be a problem with the number of entries in the database, or maybe a corrupt entry?
 
I think its a corrupted file or folder.

Chuck, I experienced this and other issues (for a longer time) only with XP Media Center Edition ! Now I´m using XP Home without any disturbances or yellow faces.

uuuuhhhhhhh Mark thanks for trying , but i think yer mistaking me for a dain bramaged AOL'er .......

as previous ... the C is only 21% full , external harddrive about the same

i think it might be yet another oddity having to do with Media Centre Edition ......

there's this problem and the virtual folders problem and they both seem to have to do with searching / database ....

as stated prev i was running soniques and text2d , but that is just a constant .......

i work 45 hours a week in strip clubs and go mobil on the weekends ...... so i do this full time it's fair to say ....... and i feel almost familiar with my system .......

which would make me a heckuva beta tester ....hint hint ........

'flattened' harddrive means > Backup > Completely format C: > New install of OS > re-load just what you use programs.

I kinda also agree that it could be some rogue files causeing this.
i got over 200,000 files on my gig machine, but not seen this issue there.
the laptop sees all the mp3s before they go the gig machine. As the drive was formatted, the 'bad file' must still be in the backup (somewhere)
