Hey what does it mean when an amp says 100 watts per channel? does that mean that if the amplifier has 6 channels it is going to be able to put out 100 wats at each channel?

Yes that is exactly what it means.

but more than likely not simultaneously on all six channels, there's lots of creative ways to measure power output, so it's pretty easy to conjure up 100W, but the fuse never lies, if you look in the back see if there is a power rating on the box, or a current rating for the fuse, and from POWER=VOLTAGE X CURRENT, and taking off 30-50% for ineffciencies, you get into the ballpark of what the amp is capable of.

Why not provide us with the make and model number, that way we can look at the specs. Better still you could look at the specs. At what ohm? Is this one of those low voltage amps? Why have us guessing, give us more info.

think you may find it's 100w out and that will be your whack, if it were different it would probably be marked 6 x 100w, mind i hope i'm wrong if your getting a good deal, but follow rick's advice and give us a link...
