Topic: Soundcards for VDJ

For almost a year I've been using total control with cue le and at this point.....i would like to start using timecodes.

What I need is pretty much the best sounding soundcard out there. I have met a number of Virtual Vinyl users who love the software but think their soundcard sounds like sh!t so this has prevented me from getting VV.

Although this is the more expensive solution....I'm thinking about getting Serato's soundcard and using it with VDJ.

My question is this: Has anyone here used the SL1 soundcard with VDJ. I'm sure this gets asked around here a lot but I need to know the pros and cons of using serato's soundcard with vdj. Also, who's control records do I need to use....Serato's or VDJ's?

i dont mean to tag along to this post but if you are using seratos sound card, will a rane mixer work with VDJ so technically i could us serato if VDJ was acting up on my same setup

If you're talking about the Rane TTM57 mixer with built in Serato....the answer is no. That mixer is designed specifically by Rane to only work with the Serato software and I don't believe it's midi compatible.

That is the first time I read, everyone says that VV Numark Sound card is great.

Sounds like SHIT??? You heard it wrong my friend!!! I have it and i love it to the bone!!! He said she said can sometimes lead you to disaster!!! Discover it your own before jumping into conclusion...
 
You're right...I should never form my opinions based on other people's comments.

If anyone has had problems with Numark's sound card....I'd like to think it's because they did not know what they were doing when they set up their timecodes.

The only thing I'm insecure about as a DJ is sound. I want to sound the best and the guys who take over for me playing cd's are kicking my ass right now.
 
They are not kicking your *ss man. They just have more output power so it looks and sound better but it is not. Every motherboard in computer today has good sound card built in with 5.1 or 7.1 high definition output. In the club you can't hear the difference. I use Realtek 7.1 High definition sound card and have realized that I don't need my Sound Blaster USB card anymore ;)
 
isnt the virtual vinyl soundcard a 24bit soundcard????? and if it is then its gotta be better than a MAYA44, although i love mine to bits, and i have a 24bit mixer i have no probs at all with the MAYA44 but if you really want qualitly then go for the NI audio kontrol 8 i believe is the best at the mo.
 
Just because Serato sounds good doesn't mean Serato box will work good with VDJ. And it's not! So it's not recommended. Virtual Vinyl is much better chioce for midi setup but still a crap for time codes.
I highly recommend Presonus Firebox. I have 2 ms latency with it after I disabled all unnecessary devices in windows device manager under the same IRQ number as firewire controller. And the sound quality is outstanding. This setup is above Serato performance parameters in my opinion.
