Hi all,
I have been having ongoing mic problems with my setup (see below) and so I have just bought a fast Track Pro usb soundcard to hopefully resolve the mic issues and get better sound.
Model: Dell Inspiron 510m Laptop
OS: XP sp3
CPU: 1.39GHz
Memory: 2GB (2 X 1GB)
M-Audio Products: Fast track Pro
2x Technics 1210's, Timecode Vinyl, Hercules Mk2, Virtual DJ Pro, Sony Microphone with 1/4" jack
I can't get a mic signal as yet with the setup however I am trying to get that resolved on the M-Audio forum.
More worryingly I can't get audio output when I play Timecode or normal vinyl through Virtual DJ. I do get an output with mp3 though.
I have connected outputs 1 and 2 of the herc to the fast track pro and that is in turn connected to my amp and the usb port of my pc. I have bypassed the soundcard of the Hercules in the config on Virtual DJ.
Will this setup work with vinyl? I now understand that I need a preamp for the vinyl but does the Herc have a preamp for the vinyl built in if the soundcard is bypassed? If not then it was a waste of time buying it and I'll be gutted :(

this soundcard does not have enough inputs for time code

If you like maudo products go for the Connetivity soundcard this card works great with VDJ and Timecode stuff, other on the forum can co-sign that.

Hmmm I don't get it. I must have this setup wrongly then. My setup is:
Usb from the laptop into the hercules.
Both decks into the hercules
Headphones into the herc
Audio outputs 1 and 2 from the hercules into the fast track pro inputs
Outputs 1 and 2 from the fast track into my amp
Usb from the fast track pro to my laptop
Mic input to the fast track pro
Not sure how the Timecode setup would be different to this. Are you saying that the decks should be plugged into the fast track pro first?
