Same here will not give results when search your nick.

try numbers
just numbers
like 264
(H264)
0218
(matt0218)

nothing... :-(

How right you are. Wow, the search does need a lot of work. I haven't tried using it until just now.

Searching for your username has never worked unless someone has said your name in a post. I had a quick look at the search and here's what I've found. Searches are for whole strings only, partial matching is not allowed. Therefore if you search for hell and the word is hello, you'll get no responses. It also looks like words less than 4 characters get ignored. Searching in a topic just does not work if the characters are less than 6 (even then it sometimes doesn't work - this one does support partial matching). Also characters aren't being unescaped when output back to the main text field, they must be running with magic quotes turned on.

bump...

please...
just too hard to find things(old posts etc.) anymore

shame it used to be a great search engine,

Yep, I second that, I've used it a few times now, but still prefer the old way

Each forum page had it's own search, much better IMO

I made a Firefox search plugin is anyone's interested.

I am Andrew, can you give us the low down on it before I install it.

It's the same as any other search plugin you add to Firefox, e.g. Amazon, Yahoo, Youtube etc. Usually the site you visit will host it themselves, (the icon shown in Firefox will have a blue tint if it's an available option) but you can download it from anywhere.

It's essentially just a javascript method which adds an XML file, nothing malicious, infact all the code is here:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="iso-8859-1" standalone="yes"?>
<SearchPlugin xmlns="http://www.mozilla.org/2006/browser/search/">
<ShortName>Virtual DJ</ShortName>
<Description>Virtual DJ Community Search</Description>
<InputEncoding>UTF-8</InputEncoding>

<Url type="text/html" method="POST" template="https://virtualdj.com/forums/action/search.html">
<Param name="search" value="{searchTerms}" />

</Url>
<SearchForm>https://virtualdj.com/forums/action/search.html</SearchForm>
</SearchPlugin>

It's just a shortcut to the actual search on the site, it won't do anything fancy, but a timesaver if you're navigating from another site.

Cool,

I'll give it a go
