Topic: DVI to VGA adapter does not work

由于该帖子已年深日久,可能包含陈旧过时或描述错误的信息。

I have a laptop with a DVI output but a TV with a VGA input. I bought the DVI to VGA adaptor but it does not recognize the laptop. I tried it on a TV and a projector with no luck. What am I doing wrong?
The DVI port does work when I run a DVI to DVI signal to the projector. Problem is...sometimes I need to use the TV which only has a VGA input and the laptop only has a DVI output. The adaptor does not work.

Make sure the DVI output supports the analog channels. There are 4 pins I think.

right click desktop go to properties of display, settings, advanced, then go to the control panel of the video card to identify the "other" display...

alternative:
if you already rebooted computer and the monitor was connected under display settings where u see the box of the monitor, there's a drop down and u should hit that and "extend desktop to this monitor"....

im writing from a restricted library computer so these directions are wishy washy.....

i use my desktop pcs at home and have dual monitors....

if these directions dont work... go to the bios and see whats up with that.. but i doubt u have to go to the bios to unlock the video card.. them sloppy directions above should be good..

I should have noted that the video card is recognized when I go DVi to DVi, but as soon as I put the DVI to VGA adapter on the line it does not work. I need VGA to go to the TV. I have DVI and VGA on the projector.

I had the same issue with my DVI output on my Motherboard.

It's DVI-D meaning it's only and digital signal. and cannot be converted to analogue. Check with your owners manual that came with your computer, and I think you'll find this is the case.
