Topic: Is the RMX "REALLY" a better soundcard?

由于该帖子已年深日久,可能包含陈旧过时或描述错误的信息。

Whats up everyone.

Is the Hercules RMX truly a better soundcard? I am using a Maya 44 usb and i'm SOooooo tired of the low output. I also want a controller so I don't have to touch a mouse or keyboard again.

The RMX "looks" good but I have heard of some issues. I just want straight talk on how good the RMX really is and will it sound better and louder then the Maya 44 usb.

I really like the NI soundcard but don't want to pay the extra money and it is not a controller, just a hell of a soundcard.

Feedback anyone? I'm trying to buy today for a show on Monday.

Oh yeah...I use v3.4 mostly. I just like the way it responds better than v5

in advance, thanks for the feedback

For the most part, the RMX is a product of our complaints about the DJ Console MK2 being too crowded to work with effectively (like accidentally hitting a jogwheel when you crossfade, for instance, lol). If I'm not mistaken, the sound card inside the RMX is the same one that they used in the MK2. Further, I think that the consensus is that the Maya sounds better than the MK2.

Personally, I'm still using the MK2 for mobile gigs and haven't had issues with sound output or quality. It works for what I do with it ;)

the maya sound card is way better

I have both, RMX and the Maya.

I would say out of the two the RMX does have the "louder" soundcard, but the Maya sound quality is slightly better than the RMX. So it all depends on what you want. I use the Maya for TCV's as the latency is much lower than the RMX.

Word of warning though, if you decide to go with the RMX, you may need to do some testing. I've had mine for over a month now and it was only last week I sorted out all the little issues I had with it.

What kinda "issues"? I really want a product that WORKS and works well. "issues" at live shows really suck.

I really like the NI audio 8 but that pricetag... and it's not a controller.

What should I be on the lookout for?

I have used the M Audio 410 .... http://www.absolutemusic.co.uk/shop/view_product.php?product=maufirewire410 for about 3 years now and recently purchased the RMX. I can honestly say the sound card in the RMX is pants in comparison to the 410. When using the RMX I am on max gain and the level lights are maxing out. When using the 410 I'm not even on 50% for the same output results. It really is that much of a discernable difference, so much that I'm selling the RMX, any offers!?

Also, I don't think the RMX will work with 3.4. If you're needing to use ASIO drivers for timecodes or because you need the external inputs I wouldn't go with RMX as the ASIO drivers seem full of problems for me (losing timecode signal, sound breaking up, etc). If using WDM drivers the RMX is fine but for ASIO I'd get something better;^]

O.K. I got the RMX...not happy with it yet.

1. Headphones...I can't hear anything through the headphones.
2. VERY choppy. I have not even hooked it up to external sound yet but just playing with it I see stallouts and stutters in the waveform.
3. Install is a MF headache.

Can anyone let me know how to fix these things? Or should I just return the thing.

I got the headphone issue worked out but the choppy response is driving me nuts.

Using the jog wheels for scratching so far is NO GOOD. the response is really REALLY really slow and when I do anything with the jog wheel, the music on the other deck just drops out for a second or two (Not Cool). Also when loading a track on one deck, the sound on the other deck drops for a second or stutters.

I have not tried my Pioneer 800's yet and I have not tried sound yet (hooking up to my amps, dbx driverack, sonic maximizer, speakers). I'm almost scared to.

I think I like this unit. I know I like the concept, I just want it to work and work WELL.

Feedback anyone?

This what I meant about little issues, lol

First of all have you download the latest driver package from the hercules webstie. You can download them from Here

Regarding the Jogs, I don't Know if you know but you can alter how sensitive the jogs are, by messing around with a little screw that is located on the underside of the RMX, there is one per jog.

With your choppy sound, what mode are you using the RMX in. I found Asio is better for me, but most users found WDM works for them, so have a play around with the 2 different modes.

Also regarding the choppy sound, you may have the VirtualDJ performance set to high, go going into the performance tab of config and try, this Preset slider to Fastest and Latency on Auto.

Hope this helps you abit.

Buy and allen and heath Xone 92, this will clean up your sound.

Come on man...If I could afford that, Why would I buy the RMX, I mean...

Thanks for the info but I need real solutions not pipe dreams.

Yeah, that thing should make the coffee, serve it to you, then blow on it to make sure it's not too hot for you ;)

This is true. I have to run my RMX in WDM mode. Head over to the Hardware thread and read up on how to change the RMX too run in WDM mode.....
