I currently own the Hercules MK2 and was very happy with the product. However, i would like to upgrade to a new controller on the market.
I am currently swaying towards the RMX as this is very similar to the MK2 and looks very professional and has many more features.
However, i have been reading that the RMX has a dogey crossfader and isn't very good for scrathing which is a factor i need.
It would be extreamly helpful to have feedback off you lot on the hardware controllers avaliable. My budget is around £300 but wouldnt mind payin a little extra for a professional piece of kit. (sorry if there is already a thread on the different controllers avaliable)
Thank you, Martin

The RMX is a nice follow on from the mk2. I have one, but there is a few little problems that need to ironed out, whether it's a VirtualDJ problem or Hercules driver problem, or a combo of the two, who knows, but it will eventually get sorted.
Also when you looking at controllers, you have to think whether you want one with a built in soundcard (the easy option IMO) or a separate controller and sound card.

Ive been looking at the VCI 100 as this has an amazing scratching function, however, as you said, it has no soundcard. Also the price may be an issue and the compatabitly with VDJ may be a problem?
If the RMX was all sorted i would of had one by now but im afraid they will always have this problem. You reckon its a software/driver fault with the crossfader and not the actual RMX hardware?
Thanks :)

The RMX is fine, but there's something not quite right. Maybe it's the drivers?

Say money wasnt an issue and you had an soundcard, would it be the VCI 100 hands down each time??
Sorry to be a pain with all the questions but its important i get the right console!!
Thanks

I've not gotten my hands on one, but from the demos I've seen on the VCI 100 I would pick it up if I had the cash.
If I wanted to scratch with a controller then I would pick up the VCI 100. But that is my opinion with limited knowledge.

I don't scratch but the only issue I had initially had with the RMX cross-fader was when it was all the way to the left or right side sometimes the cross-fader in virtual dj would not be exactly where the RMX fader was. So you could still hear the track on the other deck at a very low volume. This only happened like twice. Now when I'm using the cross-fader I kind of tap it all the way to one side once I'm about a 1/4" or so from that side. I haven't had any problems with it since I've been doing that.
jimmy b:
Is this the problem you are referring to or is there something else?
Another note on the RMX for scratching is there are screws on the bottom of the controller you can adjust to customize the jog wheels resistance. You can also adjust the sensitivity of the jog wheels from within the Hercules driver control panel.
If money is not an issue and your not in a hurry you should check out the Numark NS1 or Stanton SCS.1d + SCS.1m. I think these should be out in the next month or 2 and they both should work with VDJ since they are full on midi controllers.

If scratching the RMX is no good as the jogs are not touch sensative, like the mk2 if you try to hold the jog at scratch point the music will start back up, in other words jogs must be turning to react making it about useless for scratching. Haven't tried the vestax, but it does have touch sensative jogs. So that & given the Vestax reputation a good soundcard & the vestax, though much more expensive would probably be the better option;^]

Um... I jumped from a MK2 to a TCCD venture... I dont think I would go back to a controller unless I had too...
The RMX looks great but my Chrome stand and tables look SICK!!!! Look like a pro, feel like a pro, play like a pro... If you dont scratch you will sooner or later... Or you gonna be a push buttoner for ever???

Just a couple of notes, as you decide on the right choice for you...
Compared to the MK2, the RMX has 4 times the number of contact points on the jog wheels. So if you liked the MK2, you'll like the RMX 400% more :)
I'm told the Vestax piece has even more contact points.

I've been searching around the forum and a lot of people have good things to say about the RMX. It sounds like it has a few issues, but they're small and will probably be fixed at some point.
I was wondering if anyone could tell me about how long this offer will be around? http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&product=1842189&lang=en&docname=c01300427#c01300427_dv60
I want to get a controler with vdj, but I'm still pressed for cash, and I want to wait a while. That deal would save me a lot.

The combination of the RMX, and the upgrade price to the Pro version of VDJ is an excellent deal. I don't know of an expiration date on it. I certainly hope it last as long as possible, so that as many people as possible get the benefit of this combination.
