Turned off the lappy, hooked up the 2nd monitor via VGA cable, turned on lappy, right click on desktop, personalize, display settings, checked 2nd display as 'extend my desktop to this monitor', apply, ok. Now I'm seeing my laptop desktop displayed on both the laptop screen and the second monitor. Good so far. Reboot, start up vdj. Go to config, select video, click on activate......still only seeing the desktop image on my 2nd monitor. What did I miss?

The problem is you are in CLONE mode. You need to look in the advance setup of you video card and change the configuration to DUAL mode. If you can not set it up to be DUAL mode, then you can not use the split screen features.

Your Desktop Icons & Taskbar should only be viewable on one screen.. What ever you picked as your "background" will be viewable on both screens.. You should also be able to move your mouse from screen over to the other..
