Topic: anybody used reflex what do you think

由于该帖子已年深日久,可能包含陈旧过时或描述错误的信息。

Hi i tried the demo and this is what i think

The program looks nice but looks like a toy.

When the software was first announced it was indicated that it would world work with small amounts of ram and a pentuam 3 was the minimum. All of the sudden the system reqirements went up not to mention that you can't use reflex without service pack 3 in windows xp.We all know that this service pack has many issues.

When reflex project was announced, it was stated that this program would have different skins, but i don't see that.

Anyway i have a pentium 4, gig processor, 1 gig of ram, and the program runs slow as hell and i use the gigaport ag usb sound card and i have to really higher the latency to avoid glitches in the sound.

I find that to much time has been put into the programming of reflex with minimum results and minimum features. The program is not very efficient and it seems that you need a very fast computer to do what slower computers can do with apps like vdj and vj. As time goes by, people want feature more and more, not for them to be removed. Not to mention that the songs are slow as hell to load up, wven wave files.

I just find that they haven't delivered what they promised.

I have uninstalled the app, and will probably never use it again.

The latest update has better cpu optimization.

You have to use asio and not direct sound

As you have a slower machine, it's vital to scan your libray before hand. You can also disable background scaning while performing live.

I hope it helps

I do like it's uncluttered interface. Simple and simple is good. It's MT is the best I have heard (sorry VDJ). Get the updated version. And scan ALL of your tracks in advance - might take a week or month. :)

It's not having the best one tool for the job but the best set of tools.

i find it stange that they said the minimum requirements were a p3 64 or 128 mb ram and never mentioned service pack 3 and now all that has changed. It's almost like they took a really bad guess

I hafta to agree the orig specs were rather meek - like what RED 5.x needed to work.

Also, it is NOT was was promised way back when - several years ago.

You need service pack 3? Works fine without it here. If anything, I've heard of problems using it WITH SP3.

i tried the demo on 2 different systems and would not work without service pack 3.

Smittydc....how did you get it to work without service pack 3 ?

Which version of .NET framework do you have on the computer which doesn't work with the demo?

I tried the initial release and was a little disappointed. Somewhere down the long timeline...things were changed and it was not released with a few shortcomings. the processing power is one, the skins, and the record case. The record case is setup for someone other than a mobile dj who is going to have a vast amount of different music. Having to type "browse" and your search criteria just doesn't cut the mustard. Folders and sub folders are the faster and easy way to get to the data you want. The group tagging is a cool tool...but they gave you no easy way to add or edit that tag field.

Who knows...eventually it may be what I'm looking for. But not now.

i just find that they made people really think this was going to be big, but really not much to brag about.

djcel....i don't know what you are talking about, i installed all updates for windows xp and they included the latest versions of . net framework and reflex still does not run.

update,

i found the problem, it was an incorrect dll file version which i had to replace, it appears that many people were having this issue

Typical PCDJ

Promise the earth, deliver late and with bits missing.

I think Reflex is truly awful. VDJ is far better. Don't get me wrong, VDJ does need improvement in several areas, but Reflex is a toy pretending it's something serious. PCDJ always half finish a project then just move on to the next one.

They have been the same since the late nineties, and even with change of ownership it's not got much better.

I went ahead and splurged and bought it, and in my intial testing with it I must co-sign that the sound quality is far superior than VDJ, and of course since PCDJ and Denon have partnered up it works incrediable with my HP 4500, scratching on the HP 4500 is not to bad either. As far as timecode is does seem more responsive than VDJ, and handles other timecodes better as well. The beat grid, and quantize is impressive. What I don't like is the record library, I can't figure out how to make virtual crates. I also don't like the fact that it does not have a sampler.

Would it be too much trouble to make a small sample recording of each just to test the differences in sound? thanks

Where on the same page this is also my opinion of reflex, however i've mange to love the record case kinda cool, and the only impressive thing about vdj that reflex doesn't have was the sampler, but again i've learn to get around that, by using a sample built by djknockz that runs in the background while reflex running, pretty cool and is much better than vdj sampler. here the link:

well i try to use other alternatives:

this sounds kinda lame but the way i separates my music is that a create a new playlist and name it example "ROCK". all caps so it stands out. then under this folder i would just drop and drag all my rocks albums under 'ROCK".

sounds lame but reflex is not perfect yet so you have to compromise for now. I think in future releases thay will add the option to have sub folders like most dj software just because of the demand for it from reflex users.

Listen2.....I have made a samole recording of reflex and vdj,It is a short mix of just a little over 3min and both are pretty identical mixes. You will see that the sound quality is pretty exact. I noticed that vdj sync's the beats much faster than reflex.

Here are the links....Please all comments are welcome....
