Topic: What do you use to rack your gear?

由于该帖子已年深日久,可能包含陈旧过时或描述错误的信息。

Hey there you guys. I've been shopping around looking for a rack for my cm200usb and my dmc2 that can also hold my laptop on it for mobile gigs. The best thing I've found is the odyssey FZGS1304 which runs around 400 dollars, which is way too expensive for me. So to you guys with rackmount set up, what do you use?

Is this something like you had in mind?

If you're crafty you could take a stab at building your own. you can buy all the parts online, build it just the way you want it.

I used a regular SKB DJ capsule.

It's all about the DIY for me - a couple of sheets of plywood, some screws and carpet is so much cheaper than anything you can buy ready made! It's the only way to get EXACTLY what you want in my experience....

I like the New rig sherz. Very nicely built. I've looked in your blog a couple times before.

Have you had any issues with bolting the MOBO plate & MOBO, directly to the Plywood/MDS? The rack capsule I use is a little small for comfortable mixing when I'm standing up.

That's exactly what I did too. It's not much, but it does exactly what I want it to do...:o)

Better off building your own IMHO. You can also add and modify bits and bobs as you go remember.

Good luck...(",)

Cheers Marcel! I'm quite pleased with the latest incarnation of my rig, it's a lot easier to carry around than that 2-screen unit I was using before!

As for mounting the motherboard, I used the mounting plate out of an old tower case, and screwed this directly to the woodwork. The original 2-screen console was made of thick MDF, and I got away with using 10mm woodscrews to hold the mobo plate. The new system is build from slightly thinner plywood, so this time it was fixed using nuts and bolts through the ply, with the head of the bolt countersunk underneath, to make it flush with the wood surface. Never had any problems with either method, motherboard has always remained secure, despite all the bumping around and general vibration it's had to endure over the years.

ps- loving that video truss by the way!

be careful mounting motherboards outside the case, you'll have emi issues and not have proper airflow. Not to mention you need to ground the motherboard to the powersupply.

Good point, forgot to mention there's plenty of cooling fans in the case, and yes the baseplate is earthed as well. As for EMI though, had no issues with that ever - been using PCs in wooden boxes since 2001/02ish - no issues with interference to and from such things as mobile phones or radio mics etc...

10 MM woodscrews? - you have a hard time lugging that heavy case around!!!

I was thinking of making a custom case - but time is running short these days. Your set-ups give me some good Ideas

Hehe.. and that's why I rebuilt it! A lot lighter in plywood now....

Glad it's given you a few ideas anyway, good luck, and don't forget to post some pics of the new creation!
