Topic: Would I be better off...

Gah, I hate asking questions, I wish I knew this myself...But I'm thankful for guys/gals like you. So, I just got my new soundcard (ESI U46DJ) and have the slightest clue as to how to set it up on VDJ. I bought it secondhand so no driver CD's were included but it successfully installed on my lappy (or says Vista). Anyhow, how am I to go about hooking up my TT and Numark TC and getting started on scratching. Right now I'm just on pc speakers so they're also going to need to be connected but with little info and no diagrams I'm lost. =( Anyone able to help?

Another question related, would you all recommend ditching the TC and just getting a mixer? My original plan was to use the TC for effects/samples, but instead of being a lazy ass I could just use my mouse to click the sample/effect I want to use. I highly doubt the TC will be sufficient for scratching, but I might be wrong. What u all think?

Acizze, first you have to download the latest driver...I use version 1.0.18 with win XP and works OK. set both inputs in the card as PHONO, on the driver set phono inputs faders to full down, mute monitor outputs to kill the TCV code noise. Now conect your TT cables to the inputs 1-2 and 3-4, then conect the outputs 1-2 to your mixer LINE input 1 and outputs 3-4 to your LINE input 2. Remember to confir the TCVs signal in the VDJ Sound options, experiment with diferent settings of PERFORMACE until you get the best for your style.
On the Download section you can find the ESI-U46DJ driver, if you cant find it, post me and i will send you.

Good Luck

Thanks, I've gotten everything going well now. my signal however is 0%(when on VDJ5). Should I be concerned or is there anyway to improve this? Also seem to be having issues with the pitch changing continuously. Is there anyway to fix this? It seems as if I've gotten into more than I can bite, as the scratching doesn't seem very authentic, but still much like the same "digital" sound. Is there anyway to fix this?

Try using the auto calibration button on the TCV configuration, you must get around 100% for a good tracking of the TCVs. To get better scratching sound, adjust the perfomance option to quality, it works fine but depends on the power of your computer because more quality => more processing power and in some cases, more latency.

Keep experimenting different configurations until you get the best.

Good Luck
