I just bought serato the other day and I have a trial version of the 5.0. I want to mix videos how can i go about controlling the internal fader using my external mixer. I have Rane TT54I with no USB. I tried mixing the videos but the internal crossfader does not mix over. I have to stop my CDJ 800 then the video changes. Do i need a mixer with USB and would any mixer with usb output work.
Does VDJ support Mp4.
Thanks

Only if the USB mixer supports midi. You could create a keyboard shortcut for video crossfade though;^]

what is a good kind to get. So i need a midi controller and my mixer and can i still use my Serato box.

Yes you can, you can also consider:
Numark Total Control
Hercules MK2 or RMX
Vestax VCI 100

dj alf are you saying i don't need a midi controler?

I can get full video mixing control with my Rane TTM54I saying I will have full control over the internal mixer How thats the ?

No ;) he is saying you can keep your analogue Rane mixer (for audio crossfade, EQ etc), and then get a simpler midi controller for controlling the video crossfade (and software features such as play etc). Alf mentioned a few controllers that ARE midi :)

Lots here , if you wanna peak :

And your SSL card is fully working with VDJ yes :)

yes:)

how is there a patch needed

It there anyone using The Mackie d2 pro with vdj if so will it work with the mixing part i want full control for the ext mixer i don't want to use a midi controller. I like the 10inch mixer size. Please help taking my Serato back.

Yes
it works fine i only had it for a few days. but think about taking it back and getting the mackie d2 pro

The Mackie d2 will work as a SOUNDCARD and audio mixer for virtual dj, but it will not control any software features, since it does not have midi implemented.

In other words it can act as a soundcard, and you can mix audio on it, but for play/cue/video crossfade, you'd have to use mouse, keyboard or midi controller..

If you want a hardware mixer that can do it all, the Ecler Nuo4 or Korg Zero4 (please check if the noize problem is fixed, think it is..) is a good choice... and if you can spend a bit more, Ecler Evo4 or Ecler Evo5. And if you wanna spend even more, Pioneer DJM 800 seems great.

If you want to keep the The Mackie d2, you can... use it to control EQ and audio crossfade in real hardware, then add a small midi controller to control the video crossfader by midi ...

Or if you want to crossfade video and audio at same time on same crossfader, you do need a midi controller.. Ranging from cheap consumer made controllers such as Hercules Mk2 & Numark Total Control to semi/pro controllers such as Vestax VCI-100, Hercules RMX and Vestax VCI-300.
For a real pro class hardware mixer its Ecler, Korg or Pioneer models (with midi)

Hope that helps :)

Thanks
that was very helpful i guess a midi controller it is man all this just to mix some videos/music
