So i want to delete programs from my computer, i went to "add or remove programs" under control panel, but how do i know which programs my computer needs to function? I don't want to delete everything because I'm afraid it will mess up, also some programs have unfamiliar names. Any advice on how to check if my computer needs certain program.

Try Goggle searching them one at a time. That will tell you what is and is not important.

Or make a snapshot of your Add Remove list and I will tell you what you can remove.
