Just a heads-up
I just got the RMX recently and had an issue with XP recognizing the device (XP would discover the RMX as an unknown underpowered usb device). This problem would not permit the completion of the HDJ driver install. I fix the problem with a Y USB power adapter.

You could also use a powered usb hub but you'll have to carry the extra power cable and hub to gigs. KISS (keep it simple stupid). Mix it Up!

My 2.4Ghz MBP does the same thing BUT it does actually work - have you tried it?
It says the port will be disabled but it fact it's not and I can use the RMX all night no probs.
It's obvious that the power surge from all the flashing LEDS at plug-in is right on the edge of the 500ma max current for USB devices.

Have you tried if you can get your DJ Console Rmx identified and listed by connecting it to the USB port before booting your computer?

Ok just got my controller and am having the same issue. I went and got a "powered usb hub" and the issue persists. Have installed/uninstalled about 10 times with the same results each time...? I am Using the disc that came with the unit and downloaded and tried drivers from the hercules website. Also have tried on spare laptop/ and home PC using XP. Any new word on this? Thanks for any help!!!
The PC I'm using is vista 32bit, 1 Ghz Ram, 1.8 GHZ processor, 160 Gig HD. Belkin USB HUB.

i have a hp vista 64 bit laptop when i play rmx i get a lot of distortion. I tried playing with just the vdj5 only and still have distortion, I use a hp vista 32 bit my sister laptop and it work fine is the rmx and vdj5 compatiable with vista 64 bit

Mine worked Ok with Vista and a powerd hub but then for no reason I pluged it in and it started to smoke.

so i have the hercules software ( http://www.nuloop.com/dj_equipement/Hercules/djconsolermx_carac1.jpg ) and everytime i click on it to get it started it says (error in sound card) ive already tryed reinstalling it but that didnt do the trick and i have no idea what to do soo help??

so i tryed what you said and it didnt work can somebody seriously help me? everytime i plug it in to get it started it says(error in sound card) ive tryed installing it over again ive tryed that download nothing seems to work..

1) detail precisely your configuration:
- Computer: brand and model
- Computer type: laptop / desktop
- Operating system: (give the complete operating system, for example Windows XP 32-bit Service Pack 3)
- DJ software (complete version, for example VirtualDJ 5.2.2 DJC)
- DJ controller driver: for example 2009_HDJS_4
2) Detail precisely the error message:
- circumstances of the error message: where were you, at which menu, when you got an error message
- error message: what is the exact and precise error message
- result after the error message: what happens once you have closes the pop up of the error message ?
If you don'list all the technical information to solve your problem in the first message, then you divide by 10 your chances to be helped, as normal forum visitors will not lose time in asking you the technical details which you should provide: not giving all the technical informations in the first email generally proves either a lack of motivation in the solution of the bug or a lack of understanding of computer settings , so rather than spending 10 messages to try to get the technical information, forum visitors generally help only users who prove they seriously look for a technical solution is posting a message which contains enough technical information to identify the technical issue.
