Topic: Cue/Traktor sound comparison

Ok, so just when I thought Cue was totally perfect, I ran into a bit of a problem. I've come to realize (unless I'm doing something wrong) that Cue basically sounds like shit. When I bought my midi controller it came with Cue LE and Traktor LE. For those who have used both products side by side, you know what I'm talking about. There is a noticeable difference in sound quality between Traktor and Cue.

No matter how I adjust the settings in Cue, I've always thought the sound was a bit muddy. For those who are using Cue with a midi controller, try turning the bass all the way up.....you'll hear exactly what I'm talking about.

Now, if there is a user out there who is not experiencing this problem. I'd be interested in copying down their settings and running them on my system to see if it helps.

Right now I'm using Cue LE with Numark Total Control.
Laptop specs:
Toshiba Satellite A205
Intel Core Duo 1.66GHz
2 GB ram
OS: Windows Vista Home Prem

If there is a way to boost sound quality in Cue....I'm buying Virtual Vinyl tomorrow because sound is the #1 issue for me. I hate using Traktor with a passion so hopefully something can be done about this.

I do not use either CUE or VDJ to control the sound frequencies. I use an external EQ...try that..but turning anything all the way up, or down.....is indicative of some equipment issues....

By no means would I ever turn the bass all the way up in a live environment but when testing both products, Cue gives me all kinds of distortion when the bass is turned up and Traktor still puts out a nice, clean sound when the bass is up which gives me a good comparison between the two products.

I'm going to do some testing on an external mixer and to see if I can hear a difference between Traktor and Cue. I'll post the results here.

EQs should never be pumped up!

Anyway, that's because Traktor uses a light 12dB/oct equalizer, while Cue uses a full isolator. Pumping frequencies will result in saturation of the track.

Cue may sound as sh%t, but turning EQ's is not the right way to prove it. I would say EQ related distortion is not that important (when you use EQ in external mixer). Cue has terrible keylock/mastertempo sound which cannot be replaced by anything.

Well, the track sounds muddy no matter where the EQ is on the Total Control and most of the time, all 3 EQ's are set at 12:00.

It sounds better on the external mixer so I'm going to stop using my Echo Indigo DJ/IO and start using Numark's DJ/IO again so I channel audio to 2 separate channels.

The TC is good for video mixing but hopefully I will get my money from Chuckle Nuts soon so I can get Virtual Vinyl set up!!

Ok, instead of bitching, I'm thinking is there a free plug-in that can improve sound quality. Then, where would you put it. On any channel?
For example , some people were complaining about Live's sound quality, so someone suggested Vintage Warmer on the master. This is for those who "mix in the box'. I like Traktor's sound better, but I don't want to spend money on yet another program. I would rather work with what I have.

My name is dj alexboon.
I have Virtual dj. i bought an external sound card wich is: Express sound card Blasterx-fi Xtreme audio thinking that i was going to be able to hear one of the decks on the Headphones wich are pluged to the External mixer.

My set up is Laptop with the secund card BlasterX-Fi plugged to an external mixer Denon DNX-500 My geadphones are plugged to my mixer.
i can't get to hear one deck on the headphones while the other deck is playing the song on the speakers.
