Topic: Need Info, Who's In Florida?

OK, guys, looking for any of you lot that are in the Florida area, looking at a family holiday there. Our usual holiday habit is to rent something like a villa for 3 weeks, so, looking at some areas, can anyone give me any feedback on the following :-

Kissimmee
Hampton Lakes

Any other suggestions, looking at 3 weeks in August,

TIA for any info.

Being from Michigan originally, going to Florida is an annual event. The best time I ever had was renting a house in Kissimmee. Because of it's closeness to Disney World, all the best reasturants are there. Nice homes for rent at good prices. About 40 minute drive to Tampa. Downtown Orlando is close and also a happening place to check out. If you could, I'd wait to October-- Aug. will be supper hot and hummid.
 
yep kissimmee is your best bet, if you want to keep busy, but at the same time chill out. Remember the house of blues is in downtown disney..A lot of good concerts might be coming up in the summer!
 
I lived in Florida for a long time. The first question would be do you want this to be a Disney vacation? Kissimee, like others have said, is a great choice for that. I'm a big fan of the St. Petersburg/Clearwater area if you're looking for more of a beach vacation.
 
Want to do a bit of everything really, Disney, Universal, Kennedy Space, and I believe Tampa isn't a long drive away, got my eye on a villa with pool for 3 weeks. Now this may seem strange, BUT, we in the UK who base everything on TV, for me, I always imagine a hot dog stand on every corner, now i always promised myself if i went to the US, one of the first things i was gonna do was buy me one of them hot dogs with everything on that all the cops in the tv shows eat! Am I going to find one in Florida? (you can laugh but it's a thing i've had since being a kid!)
Oh, and I'm gonna do Mac D's to see if it's the same, and Wends cos i'm told they are better, and am gonna get me one of them BIG steaks that are 3 feet long too! Oh, and am gonna eat Hershey bars and Tweeneys cos they always have those on the TV too and we don't get em here. Yes, 44 year old kid in a candy store!
 
Kissimmee is the way to go, central location and about as affordable as Florida gets.
And I'm sure you can find some tastey hot dogs and all those other fabulous foods in FLA! LOL
U made me hungry man.
 
WoW!! sniff,sniff.. That is something special. Reading that I really hope you get everything your looking for.
 
TopHouse looks like you want the all american vacation, bad food and American cliche :) Hot Dog stands you see on TV are probably in New York or some of the Northern cities. They are a ton on the street corners up here but you're probably going to struggle to find one on Florida unfortunately. They probably have one in Disney but it's not the TV ones if Mickey is serving you :). You'll find Orange Juice or Smoothie stands in Florida. Tampa and Orlando are about a 2 hour drive apart so if you choose Kissimee you can do Tampa/St. Petersburg and Clearwater in a day or two day trip. Sounds like Central Florida is your best bet if you're looking to jump around (Kennedy space center isn't too far either). As far as Steaks, if you decide to go to Tampa make a reservation at Burns Steakhouse...legendary Steak. Shula's steakhouses are all over Florida too and are great (in full disclosure I am a Miami Dolphins Fan, but it is a damn good steakhouse) Keep asking questions as you get closer. By the way, when are you thinking about traveling to Florida?
