This is a stupid question, cause I am still learing how to use my mac. But how can i get the sound to come out of my firewire connection and not the mac speakers.

Which soundcard are you trying to use on the firewire connection?
 
What do you mean, I am trying to connect a Firewire M-audio to the mac then run the outputs to a denon Mixer.
 
Could you be a bit more specific on which model soundcard ?

M audio firewire but which one?
