smart ripper...
and for my troubles got spyware, adware, trojans, and assorted nasty things. can anyone point me to ways to remove ISearch and IMI Server IE Plugin?
Norton's 2008 has proved to be worthless and their live chat "assistance" is just them telling you to spend more money by using their "premium services". wasted $40 buying that disc.
everything else i've researched so far hasnt been helpful. any ideas?

so far no joy with anything i've tried, including those. this is starting to look like its gonna be expensive. even Kapersky hasnt solved it.

Have you tried a system restore? Try a day before you installed the ripper...

went in to try that, but silly me it was after installing nortons 2008. it, or something, erased them all prior to that day. still looking for solutions.

why expensive ?? you probably already have backups for important stuff , so do the system recovery yourself

for good anti virus protection try trendmicro , alwil or zone alarm .......

expensive 'cause i'm a goober who didn't buy himself an external drive and backup everything that was important.
Trendmicro didn't really do anything, havent tried alwil, and kapersky has most of the same features as zone alarm (and is somewhat partnered with them somehow according to wiki).

somebody kidnap Sky and drop him off at my house.

last 4 scans found this little bugger and said it had been deleted...again

Infected: Trojan program Trojan-Downloader.Win32.Homles.bg
C:\System Volume Information\_restore{4E015214-6BB0-4181-B365-456CF1DEC069}\RP9\A0006932.exe 37.5 KB

color me confused

If your system restore is not working, then you may want to disable it within your settings. Lots of times the virus take root in the restore direcotry and will reinfect other directories from that location.

exactly ..... it's in your system restore

drop everything and go get an external drive copy your music over and anything else important , then do the system recovery

this worm is copying itself and may be extremely difficult to remove

as a last attempt after you copy your music and etc . try alwil it's free

and in todays scan this one is back:
Infected: Trojan program Trojan-Downloader.Win32.Homles.bg
c:\documents and settings\all users\application data\microsoft\onecare protection\localcopy\{2628033b-c046-68a2-5dda-219809fee679}-a0003639.exe 37.5 KB

the external drive is the last resort (gas or computer... it's only 4-5 miles to work but i dont have a bicycle, or a horse. $3.35 for regular unleaded) so i'll give the alwil a try. stay tuned.
