Hey everyone, I want to know in an extreme emergency, say my external mixer goes down, i know i can use the internal mixer skin but what about a microphone? Is there a way to hook up my microphone through VDJ? Isn’t there a skin with a microphone slider on it? And is there something that needs to be done with the primary sound card to have the microphone showing or work for the screen?....anyway, other then hooking the microphone to a powered speaker,I've never liked the way it sounds I want to learn how to archive this through the pc. There has to be a way.
Thanks,
Ralph

You computer is not an amplifier... If your mixer goes out your main concern should not be the quality of the sound of the mic. I had a person drop my sure mic and messed up the circuitry and just so happened I forgot my backup. I ended it using my earphone as a mic. The message got through.

NO your missing what I’m trying to do. i know i can do this through my speakers But, there is a way to do this, and yes i no my pc is not a amplifier, but if your running powered speakers why do you need one. so it should not make that much of a difference going though the pc. Why be narrow minded, I feel the more I learn the better for me. sound like you think you know, all you need (no disrespect intended). Not me, Been doing this almost 20 years full time now and I love to learn new things. Never close your mind.

I would pick up a cheap 2 channel mixer. Seen some as low as $50 just to throw in the bag for an emergency situation, then you aren't gonna be worrying what to do if it happens. As fas as using a mic with powered speakers I believe my buddys speakers actually have a mic input. I also wonder if you could split the xlr or 1/4s and use a mic there. Don't know but it is just a suggestion.

I wasn't trying to say I was a know it all , far from it. You most like have plenty of info I would pay to have. Reading the forums for this very same question being asked over and over again I learn much of the info. Yes, I could have said it differently, my mistake.
But the message is the computer does not have circuitry to have a 1:1 ratio of sound going in and repeat out instantly. Maybe one day someone will create a system to bypass the hard for storage. The next thing is the data going in is analog then it has to convert to digital for the computer to understand it....
