Hey,
Guys right now I'm running all music and videos off a external HD(like most). About 90GB worth total.
Now my laptop hardrive is 250GB
But my question is what's the benefits of using an external from my internal besides the obvious? taking up space? I meen ive got the space with spare after it's on especially because it's a dedicated dj laptop so it's free and clean so would it REALLY make a huge difference if i put it back on my internal? If not what's the real difference on why i shouldn't? I obviously know having a hard drive filled to the maximum is obviously going to suffer my performance but with 50-60gb to spare is there any other downfalls...

Your best operating is with your media on the EXT, I would suggest buying a larger EXT HD. They are not very expensive at this time. Also, please register your software here https://www.virtualdj.com/buy/process.html?showupgrade=1

I agree with Tear em up> or if your system can support 2 internal harddrives, make one hard drive the OS and the other one with your files. You will see that the system is alot quicker, and dont have to worry about timeing out on hd reading.

So external is better because its faster? Even through USB 2.0 right?
Is that the ONLY advantage to external is speed or are there other advantages?

The software is running from your internal drive so access might be slower than on an external

The software is running from your internal drive so access might be slower than on an external
True..I use three 7200RPM Maxtor EXT HDs...no problems at all....and you can grab the drive and take it anywhere.....

i use an external hd and find the songs load right away instead of when i load off the hd on the computer and they take some time to load
