Was wondering if anyone had any tips for organizing the music library such that certain tracks can be grouped together by default.
Here is an example scenario;
Lets say that you have a folder of music singles. Then lets say that you have several versions of a single in said folder, because you may have a couple remixes of it, maybe an album version and instrumental of the single. If the tracks in the folder are sorted by BPM, unless the 10ths portion of their BPM value is exactly the same and unique to the other tracks in the folder, the various versions of the single may not be grouped together without clicking on one of the other column headers to re-sort.
So the question is, is there a nifty way to keep the track's different versions ("it") grouped together without clicking to re-sort, organizing it into it's own folder, virtual folder, or going through steps of a filter ?

The organizing, only you can decide on how you want to do it. You make your folders by the way you can look for them fast and know where to look for them . This is who i have mine...
Dance Hits
Session 1
Session 2
Hip Hop
Session 1
Session 2
Session 3
80s
90s
House
Session 1
Session 2
You make a folder called house and add all your house songs inside that folder. You make 1-3 New folder inside the house folder and that will be your sessions.
Now.... after you made your folders etc. Open up virtual dj and click on one of the folders and the sessions will apear and disappear when you click on it.
making folders like this will make Dj ying alot easier for you and you can always ad or remove to your sessions. You will always know where to find your tracks and mix songs alot faster

@Caliente123, it seems like it would be much easier to create Virtual Folders named Session 1,2, and 3, then drop your files in there. That way you aren't messing with your files and you won't erase one on accident or end up with duplicates all over the place.

I hear what your saying but since i play over 40 genres, i have to make sessions in each genre. I keep about 20 the most in each session. and the rest in the virtual folder. The reason why i dont drop all my files in sessions is because i need to be able to find each genre individual. Doing a search is ok when you remember a song but when you cant think of the name, you cant play it even though you have it. what ever works best for you is the best way.

@Hot123, perhaps I misunderstand your initial description, but I don't think you answered the question. Even with your method, if you have enough tracks shown inside one of your "session" folders, you could have 5 versions of a title that may not be grouped together if they share the exact same BPM value of other songs in the folder.
The question is, regardless of how you organize your folders, how to cause remixes and instrumentals for a particular title to be grouped together without additional clicks to resort things, when the default sort = by BPM.
Thanks for the input.

Since i started dj ying which was over 20 years ago, i never dj yed by BPM. I played what i thought mixed well with another. I may have to adjust the pitch alittle but thats how i played. Dj ying by BPM can make looking for a song to play well with another easy. I dont play like that. I dont need numbers to tell me what i can belnd in. I just think about what blends in with another without playing it. Everytime time i have a gig, i always make adjustments to my sets. I mostly add songs and some i take out of the session. I dont mind clicking to look for a song. It only takes seconds..

@Hot123, everyone has their own style of playing and organizing their library. What works for you may not work for me and vice-versa. My organization may help me save time to do things you may not do in your sets... as an example; mic work. Every second is precious to me. You may play songs more than half way thru, I rarely get to half way before I am on to the next track. Anyhow, I don't think all of this talk of method is relevant to the question. The question is simply, IF I want to see some tracks grouped together in folders, is there an easier way to to do it in vDJ other than using playlists or re-sorting ?
If U R still curious about what I play, check my profile. Thanks.

I never told anyone how to do theirs. from the beggining, i said to organizine it in a way where you can find your music. Organizing it can help you find your music faster. I also said, this is how i do mine. I never said to do it the way i do. I am only showing examples of how i created mine

I dont understand the part about tracks group together in folders..
All my changes are done inside the hard drive where my music is located. I create folders and dragg songs into it

@Digi.....I think that would be kinda hard 2 do. I understand what you mean though so my solution is if I'm too lazy to pre-sort through the files, then just typing a key word usually brings up all the different versions of the same file so I can live with that...
