depending on what version of vdj your using it should be just a case of plug in & play, that's surmising you are using an external hard drive and remember after selecting a usb port for your H/D always use the same one, that goes for all of your ports/drivers
now i don't use karaoke all that often so maybe one of the karaoke jocks could jump in here, also it might be best to put out a search on the forum page it will give you a lot more information concerning all things karaoke....

Karaoke use in VDJ is simple. The important thing to remember is that, if you use ZIP files, you need to set up the codec in config. Just add the zip extension (without the "dot"), select the "zip" decoder, and off you go ;)
There is a caveat to using zip files, however. If you plan to use the karaoke plugin in version 5.0.7, it works as expected with the separate cdg and mp3 files in terms of how things are listed onscreen. Because I've begun using the plugin, I've converted my zips so that the artist and song title appear as they should, with a little help from an inexpensive program called Tag&Rename, which automatically renames the "cdg" file when you rename the mp3. Expanding the zips is easy to do. Just download MP3+G TOOLZ.NET4 (it's free!!), and make sure to to choose compression level 5 (standard) in case you want to zip your files back up one day. If you use any other compression method, they won't work in VDJ.
