Man gas price is the United States is getting worse. I know some of you in other countries have it a lot worse than us, but we are catching up! I have a Jeep Grand Cherokee that I regret buying. Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can make this gas guzzler more gas friendly ... I'm ALL EYES on this one.

Yeah..seriously, increase its performance......look into high flow air filters...make sure its properly tuned...ask about high performance plugs...loose weight...if there is a lot of stuff in the back empty it out.....fill up more frequently, and when its cooler outside.....plan your trips better....or sell it and buy one of these...

You think you've got it bad over the pond, I've got a 1.6L Ford Focus and it cost me 40 quid (about $80) to fill her up. We are nearly at 5 quid ($10) a gallon over here, bloody Rip off, it is.
I Know a couple of lads that have converted there diesel 4x4's for run on waste cooking oil ( chip fat oil from there local chippies), with minor changes to the engine and ignition system, but the police don't like that idea at all.

At least in Europe yous have an affordable, comfortable and practical passenger rail system for distance traveling...her ein the US the polititians are so in bed with the oild companies it brings new a meaning to "lube job"
Mag-Lev trains....that's the way to go, virtually silent, very efficient, 400mph. There is a company that wants to build a line from Phoenix to Las Vegas and Phoenix to Los Angeles. They want to put it down the middle an above the existing I-10 to LA and have it split to Vegas following the Colorado rriver following the existing highway and they will do it with ALL PRIVATE FUNDS!!!!!!!!! The government won't let them sighting too much negative environmental impact during construction.....who cares, over the course of the 1st five years of operation it will SAVE so much in auto emmissions, jet emmission and gasoline, kerosene and oil it will more than make up for the construction negatives.......but of course why would the government want anything that would save us money, savce us gas and oil, make our trip productive (we could be working instead of driving), cut the Phoenix to LA trip from 6 hours (on a good day) to an hour anytime, round trip fare less than gas one way, 1/3 the cost of air travel and COMPLETELY built with private money.

That's 100% false.
There is enough oil in Saudi Arabia, to last far beyond that. The Royal family tightly controls production (along with other O.P.E.C members) There is AS MUCH oil right here in Alberta in the OILSANDS. This is oil that was uncovered in the last Ice Age, and when the Glaciers melted the oil mixed with the sedimentary sand forming well for lack of a better word - mud. The major obstacle to getting the oil, is of course Canadian Weather. It gets to -50 deg Celsius during the winter here and that's the best time to MINE for oil. The oilsand is also surrounded by Muskeg bogs so in the summer it's almost impossible to get the heavy trucks to haul the oilsand to the upgrader.
P.S. Canada is the largest Supplier of OIL to the U.S.A
also ELECTRICITY, Softwood, Medical Nuclear isotopes (to the world actually), and due to the U.S.A's record of the enviornment they are currently trying to access FRESH WATER from Canada for bulk export. Canada has 1/3 the worlds supply of fresh water located in it's lakes rivers and arctic.
I hate to phrase it like this but it is true, The U.S.A should be more worried about pissing off Canada than the Russians, or terrorist groups. They can only attack. We can shut down your infrastructure.
But because we're such good friends, we wont.

I live in the UK and being a DJ I own a Transit it costs £90 to fill it and I use a tank a week. Can we as DJ's put our wages up? no because everyone’s as skint as we are.
Anyway I think we will be in recession soon.

I wonder if any scientists have pondered what the eco effects of running out of oil might be, I've often wondered what role it might play while still buried beneath the soil. Gas here is about $3.50 a gallon, so I take the bus everywhere except to gigs & to buy groceries;^]

And thats the truth... There are oil for decades to come, but OPEC only delivers a certain amount of it to the market each year, to keep high price. Most would say its a cartel, of arabic, african and latin nations to maintain high price for oil/gas.
But cartel control is a bit in the past, as the 2 largest nations for exporting world; Norway, Russia, that are NOT part of OPEC. But have up until recently had agreement with Opec, to only put a certain amount out on the market.
Net Exports :
Saudi Arabia 9.0
Russia 7.0
Norway 2.8
Trust Norway for a better future ;) hehe. If we ditch OPEC deals.. and we can ;)
