Hi Guys i was using my new dell the other night with my MAudio sound card. I was getting a crackles and little pops the whole night.
Is there an elimination process you would go through to isolate what is going on.
I opened asio config and the windo showing m-audio sound card did not look th eway it looked on old system. What I mean is it I coul dnot adjust anyting on it. The iwndo was there but sort of greyed out so I was wondering if it is being recoginzed properly.
I could preview songs on one channel and play on other so it had to be connected. right???
I will investigate that.
But what would you do?? Would you try another sound card first?

I have a Dell 1505 and i had this problem before, with the pops & cracks in your desktop right click>properties>settings>advance>in troubleshoot click the hardware accelerator back one space>apply>ok. Also make sure in latency you use auto and uncheck safe mode and check overclock. Try this hope it helps

Try this;
1. Open VDJ > Config > Performances tab;
Presets: Leave the default.
(As "djpr1" suggested)
SOUND CARD:
Select: AUTO (this lets your sound card run the show)
Uncheck Safe Mode
Uncheck: Overclock
Now, under
SCRATCH
Optimize for: Select Quality & Select Simple Algorithm
48kHz <-> 44kHz
Select: Lowpass Filter
Filter Taps: 11
MASTER TEMPO
Select: Fast (you can change this later)
NOW DO THE FOLLOWING:
Start > Run > msconfig > Services Tab > Check "Hide all Microsoft Services" (at bottom of window). Uncheck all services that you feel should NOT be running and click OK (All these services are eating up valuable resources - don't turn off things like your Video card or you'll have to come back and check it again).
If you have Realtek Audio (Win XP Pro) then DO THE FOLLOWING:
Start > Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Computer Management > (on left window) click Device Manager > Sound, Video and game controllers > RIGHT CLICK on Realtek High Definition Driver > click Disable (you can enable later if you like).
Now VDJ's settings are set for performance (minimal CPU use), your external sound card will be the only audio, and all the services that are not MS related are off.
Restart > give your set up a try and see of the popping stopped. If it did, now you can go back to VDJ's Performances settings and tweak them to your preferences or until popping returns.
I'm not an expert, but this worked for me. Hope it helps.

if that didn't work for you get a ground adapter on your power cord for your computer(makes a 3 prong into a 2 prong). you can get them at any hardware store and they are only a few dollars.
