Can anyone help?

How do I play a sequential set of tracks ripped from a pre-mixed cd? I have tried autoplay to no avail. Even with the crossfader set to "cut," regardless of the xfader settings VDJ sets it's own cut points despite my wanting a faithfull replay. I'm sure I'm not alone when I exclaim that I need to go to the toilet, bar or nip out for a quick smoke thesedays.

Is this possible? have I missed a config setting? Thank You.

Y not play the cds in a cd player??
 
Good point but, I'm trying to avoid all avoidable kit and the weight of the same. Rackmount CD players are expensive. CD's will run on the DVD drive but VDJ needs to be minimised for access to the default player and the momentary black screen freaks me out everytime. To have it work on VDJ would be fantastic... thanks for the response.
 
Have you tried to set your max load to always. I don't know why it would set cue points automatically.
 
Max load is set to 30mins! would "always" be better? I cannot see how this would make a difference to the automix cue/mix points. I thought this is to save processing the whole track if long. I'm looking to play a series of short tracks in the correct order whilst away from the booth.
 
Maybe I have this wrong, but you are trying to play a set a tracks from a mixed CD that you have ripped, which means that when you ripped them, they are on your hard drive as individual tracks that are no longer part of any mix. VDJ is treating them as individual tracks and doing it's thing with the various points etc. So what you would have to do is when you rip the tracks to wav files, join them all together as one continuous song file using an audio editor. If the mix was made up of 8 tracks, you would now have one wav file made up of those 8 tracks with no gaps in between. Resave this file as an MP3 file and you are good to go. You would call up this one mix file and let it play.

This assumes, of course, that the original mixed CD had individual track marks for each song of the mix.

I hope I got this right and you understand what I mean.

I have had to do the reverse where I have ripped a number of mixed Cds such as the Much Music Dance Series. I have had to edit each song to give it a 10 second fade at the end of each track. If not, when you go to play just one selection, it ends abruptly because the end of it and the start of the next song is on the next track.

AAAhhhhh this is a mix with individual tracks (correct??), if so then what is the difference whether played on vdj or cd player NONE, what you need to to is use Nero of somethin and combine them all together to make 1 track, then they should fade together (depending on what Nero does with them). You dont really wanna go over 30 min but it can be done. If that doesnt make sense then ask away:)

This is an excellent point I would like to see an option for CD playback with in VDJ.
 
Thanks again for the responses... the track merging with nero is the way I overcome the issue already although I record the whole mix via the sound card. Even this is time consuming and all the cue points have to be set in VDJ. A cd player in VDJ would be great however, I think that next to the "enable/disable automix" option in the playlist, an extra "enable/disable autoplay" would be very useful.

If this was possible I could drag a set of files accross to the playlist, "enable autoplay", "disable automix" and clear off for a while. This is especially useful at Dinner-Dances.

 
If it's individual tracks off a mix CD, have yo tried the automix playlist option of "Automix Type"-> "None (back to back)". You get to that setting by clicking on the "plus" icon just betwen the right hand edge of the song browser and the left hand edge of the playlist.

In theory that should play the mix CD out exactly how it was on the Cd, without you having to edit all the tracks together yourself. I havn't got a mix CD to hand to test it out though I'm afraid. If the timing of VDJ isn't quite right, or the ripping program you used put a little bit of silence before or after each track then it won't work.

It's gotta be worth a try though I guess.

Wow, it actually works! Ever since I first noticed that option I wondered what situation you'd want it to play each track in full- now we know! Very clever on the part of the Virtual DJ programmers!
 
Now you can skip the whole step of using the cd and make a Virtual folder with those songs in it and just load that to automix.

When u rip your cd's with cheap audio programs or Burner software they will rip into induvidual tracks... If you use a proffesional Audio software like Adobe Audition or the like you can rip an entire mixed cd into 1 long track.

This will overcome you problem.

You don't need "professional audio software" to rip CD as one long track. Just use EAC http://www.exactaudiocopy.de/
Use option save CD image as wav file.

This is FREE software. Come on, guys!
 
V5 Has solved my problem most perfectly.... V6 will, I guess, Load my van for me and maybe V7 will enable me to work simultaneously at multiple gigs for shed loads of dosh without ever getting out of my virtual girlfriends virtual bed??? I'd pay lots for that upgrade!!!
