Topic: Two sound cards or ASIO?

由于该帖子已年深日久,可能包含陈旧过时或描述错误的信息。

I can´t find again this topic, so I´m creating a new one. Sorry!

If you want djying, you need two sound cards, one for the speakers and another for your headfones, right?
But, if you wanna be a good dj, you also need latency as low as possible, all right?

My problem is that if I configure VDJ 5.0 for 2 sound cards I can´t use ASIO and get a considerable delay from my commands.
And if I select ASIO sound card, I can´t listen on my headphones anything but exactly what is comming out from the speakers, like using only one sound card.
Is there a way to get both benefits? I can´t get a sollution anywhere. I wanted to use ASIO and to have two sound outputs.
I use one intel onboard soundcard (Realtek AC97) and one Genius Sound Maker Value 5.1, running on Vista32.

By the way, this is my first post. Nice to meet you.

Would you consider getting a proper sound card? It would probably be worth the expense since you would achieve lower latency and have one piece of equipment to get what you need. The way I look at it, the more devices involved, the more room for failure. You can get some decent boxes which will give you multiple outputs/inputs as well as ASIO.

Very good point about getting a decent sound card.

But also, can't you just use the 5.1 card for both the main and headphone outputs? That way you can use the asio for low latency.

The problem is that if I use only one sound card, no matter if I use my Genius or the Intel, I get exactly the same sound from the speakers and headphones. Only if I configure VDJ for two sound cards I can get two different outputs.

And for the quallity, I know my soundcard sucks. If I had the money I would buy a decent one.

I would love to see more flexible sound out options with VDJ. I have the Denon HC4500 which uses ASIO and I would love to use it for my main ch1/ch2 out and use my laptop soundcard for song preview and sampler.

asio is better, you can get asio for all and bound channels from 2 seperate soundcards.

So... can I say goodbye to my expectations... at least without a good sound card? Do I have to resign myself with only one option?

a combination of posts: yes you can download asio4all and install it for your 5.1 card... you should have everything you need.

That´s exactly the problem. If I do that, I can´t have 2 different outputs. I hear the same thing, from the speakers and from the headphones.
