Topic: New Laptop

Do I need to buy a high end gaming laptop to do karaoke? If not, please recommend needed processor speed, ram, video card requirements, sound card, operating system and whatever else I may need. The laptops I priced out online seem to be around $2400 (US). These are laptops that meet the configuration to mix video. Do I really need a laptop this powerful just for karaoke?

I use an ATI card with 64MB in my lappy and it works fine for karaoke.

However, if you're in the market for a new machine, you would be best served to get a high-end system (Core Duo, 2GB ram, 512 DEDICATED video ram, large, fast (7200 rpm) hard drive, for example) for best performance and to leave leeway for video performance in the future. It is the new thing on the scene, and it's catching on quickly - you don't want to be outdated before you even get going.
 
thanks for the reply. I am looking for a new machine. Sort of caught between a rock & a hard place since many places only offer Vista. I understand that is is better to go with xp.......or has this been resolved?

Opinions on this seem to vary.
 
Been Running VDJ5.0r6 for three months now on my Vista laptop now with no issues to report.......I got a Sony Vaio mid range system
