I started out my digital DJing with PCDJ Red and then progressed to FX, this was due to the fact that is was pretty much the industry standard in the UK however after a short while I realised that I needed to get into video so I contacted PCDJ and asked them if a plugin was available and they said no but they were realesing software soon. I waited 18 months before I lost faith, meanwhile I was buying DVD's n ripping them to my HD and then putting them into diffrent folders eg indie etc, I then made the move to VDJ and glad I did! imagine waiting all that time to then end up with VDJ when you could of just had it all along.
I see that Reflex is about three years behind shedule and all this made me wonder how many others on the forum used pcdj and then lost the faith and made the switch.
Please give us your story.

I know it's out now - it's Virtual DJ just called PCDJVJ. What I was saying was imagine waiting all that time for PCDJ to do video only to end up with Virtual DJ, when it had been out for years anyway.

sounds like a punishment ;) hehe
Just kidding..
On a serious note, PCDJ had a 3rd party maker for the original PCDJ VJ, but the relationship and development of that version went bad, and PCDJ then looked for a new solution, and to what was the best product in the marked, and asked VDJ. A compliment to us..
PCDJ VJ is a specialized video version of VDJ, so to speak. Uses VDJ engine.. But has its own merits, skins and use.
And hopefully living its own life at the PCDJ community
But I get your point, waiting for that time and then get something thats always been around might be a bit frustrating.
The story about Reflex, and why its delayed so many times, I dont know....
It did come out with the Denon controller late last year (limited version for the controller), but has yet to be released for the rest of PCDJ users... Maybe there where some problems that came after the Denon release

PCDJ did'nt want to make the same mistakes as with PCDJFX. I used it with ongoing problems which were recognised by the company but failed to fix them. Praise to the team which designed it , just a shame it was'nt rewritten as there is life in the old dog and saw me through until VDJ came on the market. Pre release Reflex was talked up to be the best software on the market and can not be a failiure for the company. That aside, i do prefer the lay out of PCVJ to VDJ as its easier on the eyes and more user friendly, however i jumped to the VDJ mother ship for greater support and having the best software first ie: the imminent arrival of VDJ 5.1

I started Digital Djing with BPM Studio in 1999, PCDJ Red, PCDJ FX and Virtual DJ about 2 years ago (whenever 3.4 was released). ALL of these had serious issues in my opinion in their early release (Except maybe red...the record case was a pain but it was real stable). BPM studio had severe artifacts in the audio with master tempo on, FX had well documented problems for over a year, virtual dj had stability and audio engine problems until release 4.3 (really 5 but 4.3 was quite useable).
For audio only I much prefered PCDJ FX over all of them once the bugs were worked out in release 7.2, used it for almost 3 years absolutley flawlessly, had the best record case, most user friendly and professional skin and a very accurate bpm counter......unfortuanatly I could not wait for their video version promised and promised and promised.....I even used winamp for about a year because the sports bar I work for in Denver wanted video so bad (no dancing, they just wanted me to be a "Video jukebox" once the games were over by 10:30 or so)
Desperate for a video solution I finally discovered VDJ and it took me awhile to get used to what I considered VirtualDj's "oddities" such as the toy like skin and the horrible record case but several things quickly happemed (1) The professional skins began to appear and get better month after month (Thank you Supacon and Dj Format)...(2) The dev team solved the audio engine problems in realatively short order...(3) the video cards became powerful enough to REALLY handle the video efficiently...(4) VDJ finally get the record case working efficiantly and friendly.....(5) The wealth of help and suggestions found on this forum made living through the early inconveniences bearable (unlike the PCDJ forum were everybody just ripped and flamed each other)...but mostly Club owners in mass are now figuring out Video is a definate enhancement to their nightly entertainment!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If I had stuck with PCDJ for those extra two years waiting for video and then found out it was a "lite" version of VDJ.....AND COST MORE.....I would be one PO'd VJ.
In my humble opinion I find VDJ is now the most stable, the most user friendly (pick your skin, design your own or have someone design it EXACTLY how you want it), the most flexible and the BEST VALUE.................by far......
Now if I could only be young, skinny, full head of hair and good looking again the world would be my oyster (not that I ever liked oysters much......)

Very true, and PCDJ has admitted it. The company is paranoid after the F-atal X-perience release—business just died. I first used PCDJ almost 8 years ago. The company is not what it once was, which this is the best way I can put it. Unfortunately, Denon found this out the hard way. It has put out two controllers while PCDJ has struggled to release Reflex. Hopefully for PCDJ, Reflex lives up to the hype. If it doesn’t, I don’t think PCDJ will survive.
OO

yeah. I was watching a video of Torq's demo at NAMM over at Scratchworx and it seemed to have all the promised features of Reflex and then some.

Wait a minute. Are you telling us you are a old, fat, bald, and ugly DJ? How the puck did that happen? Well, the ugly part you couldn't help. What is this world coming to? Hold it, and you want to eat oysters? What about Gerber's Strained Chicken & Rice?

No Gerber's yet, I do still have my own teeth.........
