XP, I heard of alot of people having problems with Vista especially after the update came out. I have never had a problem with XP, that is why I got it on my new laptop.

XP. Vista was really not ready for prime time. It might be a little better once Service Pack 1 comes out, but if you have a choice and your hardware will support it (Believe it or not, some new hardware will not load XP because there are no drivers for the mainboard.) go XP.

Go for Xp, a more safer choice at the time

xp pro

Vista does have an improved video and audio api meaning audio and video is handled better , alot of people where waiting to SP1 to adopt but the update was a bit of a flop.

If your happy with xp and worry about upgrading , remember the number one rule of Computers " if it aint broke dont fix it" .

however , its important to check what your new laptops hardware supports as cards with dx 10 support work best on vista , and some companies arnt releasing xp drivers for their newest hardware.

I thought the number one rule of computers was "release an update so that we can meet our quarterly sales quota!"

I'd recommend XP Professional. Seems that a lot of people (including myself) have had audio problems with Vista. XP is safe, works great, etc.
Vista has a nicer installation and has some really nice features, but there are big issues with it right now. If Vista SP1 solves the worst of the issues (and it dosen't look like it's going to be a big change at this point) maybe we'll just have to wait for Windows 2010 or whatever, which will probably be released sometime in Q3 2015.

XP Professional

vista if u have 8 gb of ram is great (xp if u have 2 gb and lower

I'm with XP, not going to think about Vista till microsoft release SP2, hopefully all the bugs will be out of it by then.

i would have to pick vista for VDJ and video mixing.
when using the same system w/ windows XP, my video was constantly freezing. i believe this is more of an nvidia issue.

for everything else I would choose XP.

XP is the best software to use. Vista has too many programs that are incompatable. look in U tube and type up vista nd you will see what i mean..

actually I´ve read somewhere that MS is already on their way to develop a new OS, it has the project name windows 7

Ok You Helped me. BIG THX

But onlu one more question what is the difference betheen XP Home Edition and XP Proffesional
and are these diferences has any effect on working with VDJ?

My desktop system was built for Vista, but after installing OK, arter Post, system just reboots over and over and never makes it to the Microsoft screen at all, even after reinstall same issue!

Stick with XP Pro!

I have 2 laptops, my main Laptop i have XP Ultimate on it and it works GREAT, my VDJ and Denon HC4500 run Great on it(Midi). On my Back Up Laptop i had Vista on it..it sucked.....but since i add Vista ULTIMATE its Awesome....no problem with VDJ it runs GREAT with Video too....I been using my backup laptop for 3 weeks straight now for all my gig and radio shows and NOOOOO Problem.......Vista Ultimate is AWESOME!!!!!!

I saw if you have to used XP or Vista used the Ultimate editions...they are great ,......cause i used XP Ultimate and Vista Ultimate

I was not aware that there was a version of Windows called "XP Ultimate".

In many respects I like Vista Ultimate, but there are always far more technical problems using a Vista system (at the moment). If things are working okay, then it is better than XP due to the new features the OS brings, and is substantially modernized, but these aren't exactly real critical. I can certainly live without the sidebar and the start menu search, for example.

As for the difference between pro and Home for Virtual DJ - not that much difference. Professional allows more security and configuraiton, allows remote desktop, and better filesharing, allows domain login, etc. For most DJ scenarios this is probably a nonissue, but if security and networking functionality are important to you, then Pro will make life much easier. Home just seems so castrated to me sometimes.

there is no such thing as xp ultimate. do a search and you'll find that it exists on torrent sites only. so some nimrod has probably slipstreamed an xp iso with updates and hacks and probably some funky bloatware and repacked/named it as ultimate.

might be worth checking out anyway if you arent hack-savy because there are alot of cool things to streamline on xp.
