Topic: Help me! Just upgraded to 5rev6 and keeps crashing!

由于该帖子已年深日久,可能包含陈旧过时或描述错误的信息。

I always just upgraded Virtual DJ unless I was formatting my PC and doing a clean install. I tried to "again" upgrade to the new rev that I downloaded a week or so ago and now after it asks me for my serial, I get the skin choose screen, click Okay and it crashes! I can click recover and go back to the skin screen but it keeps looping the crash when I click recover. So.....I completely deleted Virtual DJ and tried to do a fresh install. Same thing! I even re-downloaded to ensure it wasnt a bad file. I have another PC that I sometimes use, I installed it on that one and it works fine. :( I'm in serious trouble if I can't get this figured out before my gig tomorrow night.

Only thing I can think of is maybe there are files that did not delete when I uninstalled it? Or maybe registry entries that I can't find.

My specs are:

Intel Core 2 1.6ghz cpu, 2gb ram, 160gb 5400rpm hd, Windows Vista Premium.

Please if anyone has some good advice I'd be grateful. I'd be lost if I have to pull out my collection of 300 table coasters, my 3ring binder, and my CDN-88 :( Haha... No Really!

Best advice to anybody is if you are having any kind of problem with a system or program, un do the last thing you did whether its hardware or software.

You can access the downloads yourself and if you want one in particular just contact us in eservice and we can set that up for you.

As always, test, check and test again before you go live with any system or upgrade.

Happy Holidays Guys

Could you copy paste the data of your "crashguard report.txt" file (the one in My documents\\VirtualDJ) here please.

Thanks in advance

We are very interested by this (your) crash because it's something we are trying to fix (another user had it too one week ago). However, we don't know how to reproduce it (due to a lack of information) so it would be great if you could help us.

The more data you give, the faster we will find a fix.

For example, do you use only one HD? Do you have only one partition on it? Do you use a local database on your HD (external HD) ?

Okay so here's the deal:

Just to make everyone aware of what I've already attempted at resolving this problem but much to no success. I've tried to delete EVERY vdj registry entry, file, folder (including what is under my documents and playlists...), restarted, reinstalled and it get's to "importing itunes" before the crash screen pops up. As I mentioned, it just keeps relooping the crash when I click recover. I have not tried to go back to rev 5 yet to see if atleast the previous version will reinstall w/o a problem. Again, before this I just kept upgrading for each new rev. As mentioned before, I installed this rev on another machine and it works flawless.

My specs and equipment setup are as follows:

Gateway Notebook pc with Intel Core 2 cpu with Vista Premium
2gb ddr-2 ram
160gb hard drive sata @5400rpm
I use a DJ Console on major gigs
All media that is accessed from vdj on this pc comes directly from my internal hard drive. It is only a single partition and is formatted as NTFS.

I'm gonna try a few other methods and will post my results. Ex:Attempt to run in safe mode, install in safe mode, shutdown unnecessary services and try to run......

Another update!

I am using 32bit Vista and when I went into safe mode I had no luck, restarted and now for some odd reason it is saying that my version of Windows is not genuine...haha even though it came with my Gateway months ago. Not sure if it just happened due to freak of nature. I also tried to copy the virtualdj.exe from the computer that is running rev6 to this machine. Both were the same size but that didn't solve it either.

:( Still trying some different things...

Tried to install the trial version, it runs fine. Went back and relabeled virtualdj.exe to virtualdj_trial.exe...same crash. I think it has to do with something in the virtualdj.exe file. I dont think it's my os or config. I'm certain that whoever compiled the file, may've left out info that allows it to run under my specific config. Also I did a bunch of windows updates and that fixed my deactivated vista problem that happened after I rebooted from safe mode. If there is any other info I can provide to help with this, please let me know

Also, if a staff member can provide me with a link to rev5 that works with my serial, I can atleast use that for now. I already deleted that file when I d/led rev6.

Thanks much,

Jason G

P.S. Up until this minor but major problem...haha... Virtual DJ is state of the art for DJing in the broadest of ranges of venues and for even the most elite DJ's who utilize all of it's features and options! Definitely keep up the great work! You guys defeat every DJ software I ever used...

So the problem is with the Itunes data importation. There is certainly something wrong in the XML file of Itunes: "iTunes Music Library.xml"

It is due to the line
<key>Library Persistent ID</key><string>4CF45079AF1AFE8C</string>

in the xml file

It is fixed in the next release.

I take my hat off to you Djcel and the dev team,

all this is clever stuff.

You guys are amazing!!!!!!!!! I was away from town tonight and got a call from my bar... Same problem now with our booth pc! I used my DJConsole there lastnight with the booth pc, since my notebook was obviously not loading vdj. I immediately assumed that maybe the crash had to do with reloading vdj w/o the console hooked up.... Did some testing and same error! Figured I'd check back on my post, read about the itunes file problem, then deleted the "iTunes Music Library.xml" file. Voila!!!!!!!!!! It works again...loaded right up! Thank God! Thank You so much! I think it's safe to say that this post can be closed! Thanks again DJCel!
