how well does the pioneer cdj1000 mk3's work with vdj? thats the only thing thats holdin me from purchasing a pair of these cd players i wanna make sure that it works pretty efficient with vdj? n e feedback would be helpful.thanks

They don't work as good with vdj/cue as the djm-800 mixer does...

They are fair but not great. I still need to test them for awhile, mine are fairly new still. So far I've been have trouble with the response of the jog to file. Might be a setting issue though. I also have not tried them with video yet. I actually bought them for using WITHOUT a computer.
Crashes, overheating in hot clubs, constant updates, bugs, and vista and ect, was getting to be too much of a headache.

The cdj-400's will be out by January for about $630. Which if you do the math 2 for the price of one 1000mk3. They may be the best way to go, but let's wait for somebody else to get them first. Looks like a winner though!

So unless it's urgent I'd wait for them to come out...


Okay now I'm going to try the 1000's with videos :)

I think the CDJ1000mk3 work very good with VDJ! Just as you would expect them to really :)
I really don't like the feel of the CDJ-1000's myself, but that's just my personal opinion. All functions and TCV works great.

Sound like you need to try the CDJ1000's with the lowered version of the TimeCode signal. A too high(loud) TCV input signal might just be the culprit to the odd behaviour you are describing ;)
 
The CDJ 1000's work great with VDJ. I recently switched back to my Techincs but I am very familiar with the CDJ's using normal CD's or Timecode with VDJ. In my opinion they are the best option for Timecode CD use by far. The only thing I would advise would be to check out a pair of the 800's. They are perfect for Timecode use as you don't need all of the extras that the 1000's have since those extra features are included in the program.
 
how are the hot cues on the cd player with vdj can u actually see it on the software screen
 
no, the CDJ1000 doesn't send MIDI, so you will not be able to see it on screen.
They will however work perfectly :)
 
You dont need the program if you are a talented dj. you should be able to accomplish everything u need with the players it self and a nice mixer. However I might suggest upgrading to serrato scratch, other than shitty virtual dj

serato is not bad but far overpriced man!!!!
And all in all it`s not so important which software you using-as long you know how to do it!

It's not about the player or talent, it's about the HD connectivity and advanced file structuring. If the software is stable and offers a good timecode engine then you're laughing, another thing is how comfortable you are with the interface and what you require in terms of advanced features, i.e Video, Samples, VST effects etc.

I wont name drop but there are a number of world famous DJ's using VDJ with much joy :), different strokes for different folks mate, it might be competition but it certainly isn't a war, so less of the fighting talk please.
 
the main reason alot I use vdj is because I have my music orgainsised perfectly so I can produce a great set. Alot of people think that if you have cdjs then there will be no need for software but thery are definately wrong. I used to think this way but not havingt o burn a cd evey five mins is a big plus and music organisation is like so sex:P

Pioneer CDJ 1000mk3s are the best. You will find 1200s and CDjs in all the top clubs. I have a pair myself and its great. The best part about them is the scratching, they are just like the 1200s and no skipping. It is easier to configure the time code settings on cd players than the vinyl. Who ever says that they are not great doesnt know anything about equipment. The Pioneer CDJs are the top of the line
 
I can't compare to others as I have only owned and used cdj 100mk3's, but I can assure you that they are tight as when it comes to using them with VDJ. I have used in absolute, relative and smart mode and can vouch that they work 100% for me in all modes. In absolute the cue function goes back exactly where it should. I try as hard as I can but the timecode just sticks soo tight!!!

* Make sure you invest 30 mins in reading about timecoding and tweak it to as best you can.
* Take the time to burn yourself a good timecode cd, I recommend the Pro Grade Sound Level cd.

I think it would be also wise to keep your eye on the new 400's as mentioned.

It is not possible,

Skins are only for registered users I'm afraid.
