Topic: Anyone experience this?

Last night while using my lappy with my 2 iCDXs and my Numark DXM01usb mixer every time I touched my coffin I would get a static shock. Everytime this happened, my lappy would freeze up, no sound the GUI would freeze, and then the blue screen of death. I am a maniac about grounding my set up and have several surge protectors, line conditioners in use. Eventually I switched to CDs and gave up on my beloved VDJ/iCDX set up. Thoughts?

Stop standin in one place and rubbing your feet on the carpet then touching your stuff.
On a serious note is there carpet in the booth, if so try standin on a rubber mat.
 
Might be in the Power Supply of your laptop.

or one of the Transformers in the iCDX's

Ususaly a static charge in equipement that is properly grounded and isolated means an internal failure of some sort.
 
stay off the carpet.

don't connect too many devices to the power unit.

disconnect power from laptop and let it run of its battery.

check the power supply unit, it may have water spilling on it.

just run vdj with out th icdx. if that helps, then your icdx are damaged
 
Hooked everything back up in my garage today. Works fine. Not sure what it was but is was the first time I have experienced that much static at an event.
 
buy a $6.00 wireless ESD bracelet.. that solved my problem at wild bill's...

shock! freeze.......... reboot....

pain in the asss.. the little bracelet stopped all static shocks...
 
Heyyyy good freakin idea!!!! Have one of those at the house that I use while building.
