Help me out. I have 3 internal hard drives, in my machine. One for programs, and two for mp3s.
I have copied the mp3s from the two drives, onto one 500g hard drive. This drive will take the place of the two drives, in my machine.
What do I need to do, so that I don't lose all the data? Do I need to copy the databases from these two drives, onto the 500g drive?

i believe so but whatever you do keep the old info and put it in the right place and all will work as b4 ..... i think we need Cstoll , or be unmanly wimps and read the manual ......
btw AMaHM and Cstoll are always right ...... that's the truth , and you can't have opinions about the truth ......ya know ?

put the backup copy of the database on the drive and if it doesn't work , then put it in C:Documents/User and you should be good , i'm gonna check the manual ........

If you can afford a tb drive you can certainly afford a legal copy of the software.
Hope to see you as a Pro user sometime soon.

@A man.., there are many ways to do this, BUT first BACKUP your 2 databases :
If you havn't started yet,
- Start vdj with the old and new drives plugged and move or copy your music from within vdj.
This creates the new database in the new drive automatically copying from the old databases, but do a "add to search" just n case.
#OFFLINE..., copy/move your music folders to your new hard disk and either:
-Manually merge the od databases to a new file and put it in the new drive (be carefull for the first and last lines in the databases)
-Or copy the one of the old databases to the new drive and be sure the other (old) database is in the root of a drive or partition, (you can just copy it in a usb flash drive)
Then start vdj, and as the program have access to the old databases now, do "Add to search" for your new drive...
Good luck.

Gentlemen, this is what I have done.
I copied the mp3s from 2 120g internal drives, to a 500g drive, using this. I came here for the next step, but for some reason I could not copy the 2 databases, to this new drive. I should say, I could not bring myself to do it. It just did not seem like the right thing to do. So, I start VDJ with all 3 drives connected, and all my data is on the new drive. I am not sure, but I guess it was populated from the main database, on the C drive.
So, now I will remove these 2 drives from the search DB, and remove them from the machine. I gig tomorrow, so I need to get this done. If it doesn't work, I can return the 2 drives to the machine. It just dawned on me, that I only have one drive now. I do have a laptop, that I am using as a backup, and I am building a new machine.
So, remind me how easier it is to be a digital DJ?
Thanks for help, guys.

the club i work for owns the program, u guys love to jump on people that are here as unregistered. I offer alot of valuable info when I post, and don't brag about some BS that im using a crack or something. Ohh btw, i have about 13 hard drives, 4 external mains, 4 ext backups, 4 int backups and the new 1tb for another backup......money no issue, but thx for the smart comment, when im using a legal version. If the club wants to give me the info to register their product with my forum name then so be it. for now i am a user just like everyone else.

I would certainly talk to them about that as you could register theirs and do the computer maintenance and install updates and addons for VDJ. Definately something to consider:)

and the ONLY time You even use VDJ is at work??? Hmmmm????
Sir ,not really my place ,I suppose ,But Hey the price is never going down ,might be cool to get a legal copy now. Save a buck later.
It would be nice if You EVER left the club ,eh??
Best to You

Ehh, I Use BPM Studio Which I Purchased For My Other Work, And Is What iS Installed On My Laptop! Thank You Though. I stated back when vdj5 first came out i would purchase it when they add the few features i wanted, for now, bpm is more than efficient for getting my job done while i am at work, but i do enjoy playing with vdj at work.

since you have "other work" I'm guessing you're not at the club with VDJ every night... now if that means that another DJ is using the same copy of VDJ, on the machine "at work"... seems then the club owners are the ones that need the Piracy Staff talk... but then, seems that EULAs aren't worth the paper they're written on these days...

*ahem...Back to the topic of thread...
Copying both databases will force you to overwrite one or the other. That is not a good idea.
I dont know if this would work but I would make a backup copy of each database. Open 1 of the database files and copy its contents into the other database file & save it....You should then be able to copy that file across as your new database file
I assume file locations may differ but you may be able to use the search and replace function....
Again this is just theoretical I've never done it myself lol :)
