I was asked last night if I play a 90's House Set at a club, I've been to only once, and that was a night out and the beer.
I' ll be playing with my vinyl collection next week at the club. I've been told that they use Vestax decks, rather than 1210's, Does anybody have any experiance with vestax. I've seen them but never played on them.
I have 1210's so they will be new to me.

My question is why not bring your own equipment? Ive had bad experiences when people tell me 'we have equipment". Who knows the amount of people that have tinkered with the equipment, you are fluent with your decks, why risk it?

I know what you are saying, but I have no flight cases for my 1210's and I can't be arse to lug them around, when there is a set up already plus they've only been out and about a couple of times. I'm quite looking forward to it, but quite nervous.
Might ask the owner if I can have a mix on them in the week sometime.

a test run would probably be a good idea, every machine has a different feel, may be subtle but non the less. You should always be a step ahead, remember if this gig doesnt go well you might lose business in the future, and thats not a risk any DJ would be willing to take.
im very anal when it comes to equipment, i dont let just anybody use mine, and i hate to use other peoples, you just never know when things are gonna go wrong.

Also, a lot of clubs do not have enough room for a DJ to bring their own equipment.

i find that club owners are willing to let you move or disconect some stuff as long as things go smoothly, it also helps to ask nicely.

I've never used anything else than techinics, only a cheap set of belt driven decks many many years ago when I first started out.
I'll give the owner a ring tomorrow.
Just had a look at the Vestax range of decks, they look pretty good, and stong, abit ugly though.

Just had a spin on them this afternoon at the club, not bad at all, but prefer 1210s. If you were a scatch DJ they would preform well. Got plenty of torque in the motor
Well built and heavy, still say they're ugly though.
