Topic: Problem Playing Some VOB files

I decided to post this here since I was not getting a response in the technical forum.

I have a VOB file that plays fine on all other players accept VDJ. Not sure what to do and I am worried there may be others on my hard drive. There have been past posts on this problem but, the forums wor just closed with no final resolution. Is there a fix to this problem? The file is from Promo Only and it looks normal. However, when I load it the file seems shortened according to graph at the top of the player. When I hit play the file starts for a second and I can see the video for a second and then it stops. If I load another vob file it plays fine. If I browse to the same file that stopped and just try to play it there are no problems. It plays fine in POWER DVD but, each time I go back to VDJ it only plays for a second. I have 2ghz processor, 2 gig of RAM, a brand new AGP Radeon vidoe card and the output is incredible so I have no reason to believe it is card hardware related. Also, if anyone knows MR MANDINGO...he had a posting on this before. I tried sending him a message but, have not received a reply. I have seen this problem with certain vob files - where either "error" is displayed or it plays for a few seconds then stops, and the wav display only fills for that duration.

In your case, it appears to be the latter problem.

Could there be track markers inside the vob file that are confusing Virtual DJ?

I'd be interested in finding out the answer as well.
 
Is it just this file or others? Try some other files and let us know. If it is all of your vob's, then it is a VDJ or system problem. I would not worry about one file. By the way, which sound card are you using?
 
So far it is on one file but, I am worried it could be others. Plus, the file plays fine in all of my other players. Whay doesn't it play fine in VDJ? The card I have is an ATI Radeon X1600 XT AGP Card.
 
it doesn't seem to be a graphic car problem but codecs, try downloading lates k-lite mega codec pack from here and try: www.free-codecs.com or rip the video that fails with another software.

Not for nothing, but are you telling me that you are upset because VDJ does not play ONE VOB? I am not asking you to worry about others, I am asking you to test them, so you don't have to worry. If I worry about what might happen, I would never leave my house. I am not asking you to test every file, but take a few from every folder, and see what happens. Have you tried to re-rip this video?
 
How large is the vob file? What progam was used to rip it? Have you tried to rerip the file?

I only have two file types on my PC wav and vob on 2.5 TB. No issues whatsoever. I am even running VDJ 5.5 on this crappy pc ($100 and spare parts lying around the house) that is used for surfing the net.

I dont think it has anything to do with how large the file is, he stated he is havin issues with ONE file of many Promo Only files, doesnt matter if 10000 users run fine with 5.5 on shitty computers, the guy has an issue with ONE or a FEW of his files, my suggestion would be to Re-Rip that file and see what happens. Are you havin any issues with any other files you have???
 
it's not an unusual issue for us... there are quite a few of the promo only dvd's that don't rip in good.. at least on their country subscription. either error messages or the vids out of sync or just will not play at all. we've had to return a couple of the dvd's. who knows. maybe its a quality control thing.
 
could be that the video is interlaced.

Did I miss something? You have ONE VOB that won't play, and this is the first thing you want to do?
 
I too am confused, if it is ONE file why not just try to re-rip that one file instead of doing something that may screw up your system.
