Topic: GIGAPORT AG SOUND ISSUE

由于该帖子已年深日久,可能包含陈旧过时或描述错误的信息。

Guys, I've been using my Gigaport AG for about 2 years and never had the problem with clicks and pops in the audio till this weekend at a wedding. Here's what happened, I plugged my Gigaport and my DAC-3 to the computer and then I had 3 external hard drives connected to a Belkin powered hub also going to the computer. Well, there was about 10 minutes before the guests come into the room and I was getting nasty clicks and pops in my audio. Luckily, I decided to unplug my Gigaport and try it through the powered hub. That fixed my problem, no more clicks and pops.
Why would running the Gigaport through my powered hub fix the clicks and pops as apposed to plugging it directly to the laptop?

You had 3 devices sucking power from the 3 usb ports. You yelled, "Scotty, I need more power". Scotty said, " But Captain, the Dilithium Crystals are at full power, I only have so much power to give. If we keep this up, she's gonna blow, and start giving off pops and clicks". The Captain says," What if we rewire one of the engines to the Vulcan Powered Port, will that relieve some of the strain"? Scotty says, "Aye aye Captain, I'm trying as hard as I can, I'll give it a try, put can't promise you anything". Then they went where no man has gone before, to Rosie O'Donnell's House.

Dude,
you should take that show on the road. You had me laughing from start to finish.

Thank you, but did it answer your question? If I did not help you, the funny shit is worthless.

I think so. My question is why would it suck up resources if all the drives have their own power supply? The only things that don't are the DAC-3 and the soundcard.

oh, by the way, the only thing I didn't understand was the whole thing about Rosie O'Donalds house.

"Where no man has gone before", "Rosie O'Donnell's House", Rosie's gay, she likes .....C'mon, work with me here.

I'm not sure how much your two devices were drawing, or even if the powered port was drawing a little. Your computer did not seem to like it. Try without the powered port, and then without the DAC 3. Also, were you using the same port for the Gigaport as before? It is a good thing to use the same port. These are some things you should be doing now, at home.

Actually,
I tried all that at home yesterday and I was still getting clicks and pops. I tried without both the DAC-3 and the powered hub. It looks like the laptop only likes the Gigaport through the powered hub. I don't know why, but this didn't happen with my old laptop and my old laptop was no way near as powerfull as this one. I guess that doesn't matter. I suppose it's a matter of compatability.

You neglected to mention this was a different laptop. I was under the impression that this was something that just popped up, during this wedding. This machine may be sharing it's IRQ's or something else with your usb ports. Are you running this card in ASIO mode? Are the drivers the latest, and installed on the same port as the card?
