Topic: Recording a video performance

I want to record mix sets like everyone else is putting on YouTube. How is it done?
Do you need a video capture card or is there a way to do it with software?

What is everyone else doing to record and post their mixes?

I use a video capture card.
 
I use a DVD recorder...

Marcel - does the extra video card put any extra strain on your computer.
 
you can also use a program called fraps.
 
No the Capture card does not put extra strain on the comp - Because I have it installed on my At-home desktop.

PLay the mix on the Mobile/performance comp. Capture on the Desktop - edit from there as well.
 
I tried both methods 2nd computer with a usb capture card & the 2nd computer doesnt see the input..ie ,svideo output from performance computer to svideo input of usb computer on recording pc.. & I have also used fraps which seems to lock up video at times?? any solutions?? performance computer either a HP desktop dual Core 2.4Gh, 3gb of ram,256 mb video card, 1TB HD 2x500, bcd 2000 or Numark total control & Maya 44 with TCV, 2x 19" LCD's Or Acer Aspire 9410 notebook with 2GB ram, 120 GB HD + 320 ext Hd, 224MB Shared Video???, duo Core centrino 1.8gb processor recording on a Dell Inspiron 9200 2.4 GH M Processor with 1GB of ram & a USB Live video capture card...Please help i would like to record my video Mixes...Thanx :)
 
I'd like a little more information on the setup. I have the performance rig, svideo out goes to projector. I have a laptop I can use for the recording. Let's say I get fraps or a video capture card. What output of your performance rig goes to the what on the laptop? I also understand you can use both just from your performance rig without the need for another recording computer. Can anyone explain in a little more detail how you set it up? Thanks.

I guess I'm nosie that way... I check everyones blog out. You never know what kind of goodies you can learn...

Maybe I was a detective or stalker in my previous life.
 
I use a DVD recorder. I think I paid about $140 bucks for it, I also copy TV shows on it and rip them to get video drops & Clips.

Sorry it took a couple of days. I hadn't unpacked my cell phone's USB cable and all the pictures I took were on the Cell. My Girlfreind and I just moved into a bigger apartment.

Detective/Stalker - is there a big difference?

Yeah, a Detective gets paid to Stalk for other people,
A Stalker dose is just for the fun of it... I mean because they are sick or something.
Not like I would know anything about that, I'm just guessing.
I hope no Po,Po are reading this.
 
I heard the Cel was working on a plugin tool for VDJ5.xx which would allow VDJ users to record video mixes, could the Dev Team shed some light on this ???? :(
 
Not released yet, probably soon you'll be able to download it, meanwhile you can use an external dvd recorder.
