Topic: Questions about external mixers

由于该帖子已年深日久,可能包含陈旧过时或描述错误的信息。

Hi!

I'm gonna get virtual dj (don't know what version) and with it a cheap external mixer, so i have few questions about them.

So when I get the mixer and virtual dj, I want to be able to do the usual dj stuff: Previewing via headphones, EQ mixing and stuff like that. I have a computer with:

Integrated 5.1 soundcard (Realtek AC 97) not Asio
PCI 5.1 soundcard (Soundblaster live 5.1) not Asio
and a pretty fast computer from other all components (not a laptop)

So i have been thinking about few external mixers:

Numark iDJ
Numark DM 950, Numark 950 USB
Behringer VMX100 pro mixer
Behringer BCD 2000

Will these mixers work well with VirtualDJ (or with which versions will the mixers work)?
What do i have to do to make a mixer to work with virtual dj?
What difference is there with a USB and non usb (line in?) mixer?

And last but not least: Your own comments about these mixers if you have been using one or more of them. And make your own suggestion if u think your mixer is better than one of the above (under 200$)

I own a Behringer, and a Numark DXM01usb. Very simular the the DM 950. The Numark is just a mixer, it does not control any other features in VDJ. The Behringer is a decent midi device, but not a great mixer. Do you have another mixer to slave the Behringer off of? If so go with it. The other knock on the Numark is the crossfader in VDJ does not move, it is not a midi device, just the sound going over the systems. I hope this helps.

All I actually want is just a mixer that works with Virtualdj so I don't have to control the EQ and volumes with a keyboard or mouse. I'll get more stuff when I have more money.

Its not out yet, and its 250.00 USD but you might wnat the Total Control from Numark. PSSL had a nice page on as does Numark direct.

So it does not work like this? : 1st soundcard to A line in of the mixer, 2nd soundcard to B line in of the mixer, headphones and speakers attached to the mixer? How does the external mixer setup even work then?

a usb mulitple channel soundcard, not two different soundcards I.E. Numark's iiO see it at www.numark.com there are a bunch of others, that is the one I am familure with. T

Yeah your computer should be fine to get you going - just get a couple of stero minijack to phono (RCA) cables, and connect them to the front and rear outs on your soundblaster - these can be fed to two line inputs on your chosen mixer. From here, you can do everything on the mixer as normal - previewing, eqing etc. The only thing you'll need the keyboard/mouse for is selecting tracks and operating the players.

Thanks djsherz! I've decided to buy the Behringer VMX200 mixer and firtst try it with trial version of VirtualDJ. Does the trial version support external mixers?

My roomate had VDJ on his desktop originally a few years ago, with no MIDI controller of any kind.

I had a Vestax PCV-002 2-channel DJ mixer that I was not using.

I ordered a Maya 44 PCI soundcard and bought some 1/4" TRS->RCA stereo pair crossover cables.

We routed the audio from the PC running Virtual DJ through the Maya 44's audio outputs, dumped it into each channel of the Vestax mixer, and cued via the Vestax mixer.

It worked great. The only issue was that we had no means to manipulate the tracks (jog wheels) except the mouse.

Soon after I bought my Technics 1210 MK2s. Then he bought VDJ timecode vinyls.

VOILA!

All was good. I really enjoyed this setup while it lasted.

Now I'm waiting for the Numark Total Control as I am sick of lugging around my coffin case with my 1210s/mixer in it. It's nice to be portable, especially if you have full functionality.

My soundcard combo is simple. I use my Mackie Satellite (pod only for DJ gigs) as my main audio outs and I use the headphone jack on my laptop with my Sennheiser headphones. Once the Total Control comes out I'm good to go.

My only advice is to do your research on gear and buy the best you can afford, especially a soundcard. If it crashes then your set is dead.

Good luck!

i am using dj control mp3 and numark dm 2050 its real good !!

alexhall74 or whatever if so much stuff in your place where is vdj pro ? :DD

Hey Legartas,

Since my roomate moved I lost access to VDJ Pro.

I have kept up with the product via these forums and talking with him occassionally.

I am now waiting to purchase the Numark Total Control as I need to have a very portable rig at this point, and I want a MIDI controller that is 100% compatible with its counterpart software.

From what I've read here no MIDI controller is perfect with VDJ. Since Total Control is designed to work with VDJ (CUE) I am hoping to avoid such a dysfunctional configuration.

If it works I will stick with CUE as it is the same thing as VDJ.

If it doesn't I don't know what I'll consider, maybe Total Control + Ableton.

I am more into recording/sequencing right now than DJing so I am quite comfortable waiting for the right rig to become available.

:)

yo man just wanna know if the behringer "VMX100 USB" is compatiple with VDJ??? or do i still need the asio sound card???
