I own a clean formatted Siemens notebook with 1.5 Pentium M processor and 512 MB RAM, after XP SP2 install I only installed the Behringer 1.1 Drivers and Virtual DJ 4.2. When I start Virtual DJ and set the performance slider to 'fastest' like in the troubleshooting guide, Virtual Dj is unable to play and I get an 'error in asio driver' when exiting the program. This can be overcome by setting the latency to auto. Still I get the freezing error somewhere between 2-20 minutes, when Virtual DJ stops playback. I followed DJ Montana's insightful tips, disabled USB hubs and there is no IRQ conflict, I tried different latency settings on the BCD panel, in Virtual DJ it is impossible to set the latency to something else then 'auto' because of the 'Asio driver error'. With the DPC Latency checker I can see that some drivers are the cause of the audio freezing. I disabled my CD/DVD, Ethernet Adapter, WLAN, Card Reader, Sound Card, basically everything that can be disabled. Still the DPC Latency checker goes in red and Virtual DJ halts playback. Any fresh Ideas? Thanks in advance!

Yes I am using the 1.1 patch, the console is in BDJ mode ? Latency on BCD control panel is set to 20 ms, but I also tried different options.

try "autolatency"

Latency in Performance is set to 'auto' with safe mode and overclock unchecked and the preset slider to fastest (Virtual Dj will not work when latency is set to anything different then auto)

A few more tips
a. try sound card "ASIO Driver" and not "BCD2000" then choose the BCD ASIO below that
b. Try the power managment and disable the BCD from having the right to shut power down. (something like this, sorry i have greek XP version). See the BCD manual, it's there.
PS upgrade Ram to 1Gb, it will help performance a lot.

Thanks for your fast replies
I have used most of the tweaking options (altough this is a freshly formatted system so it should work fine) and also installed the speedswitch XP tool, but to no avail, DPC latency is still frequently in red, here's my screenshot

I have configured Virtual DJ now to use the 'Asio Driver' and then 'BCD ASIO' as you said djdad, but the DPC Latency Checker continues to indicate drop-outs, the moment I start Virtual DJ it almost jumps to red (2000 us) during normal playback i get 2000 us values all the time, with sometimes a peak to 10000 us after which virtual dj quits playback. It is hard to understand, Virtual DJ in combination with the bcd2000 can run without problems on laptops with lower specs right?

*Update*
Disabling all secondary hardware devices (DVD,WLAN etc.) and all non-essential services has stabilised the DPC, but still out of the blue there are 16000 us peaks...I am beginning to give up on this...

Just checking, do you have USB version 1.1 or version 2.0? I ask this because although it appears your laptop certainly isn't from the dark ages, nevertheless, my HP laptop that shipped with a Athlon XP-M 2400+ and can take a 2800+, and shipped with 512 MB of RAM, wireless "g" card, lan and modem built in, seemingly all the options and a decent video "card", only has USB version 1.1 for some weird reason. So if it wasn't like the first thing you checked, check what version USB you have on you lappy.
If you are not already completely familiar with the differencely, USB 1.1 has about 12Mbps bandwidth, where as USB 2.0 has in around 480 Mbps bandwidth. From what I understand, the BCD2000 takes lots of bandwidth, so if you only have USB 1.1 like I do, that might be your problem. If you have a spare PCMCIA slot, that can be solved for about $15.
Anyway, I hadn't seen anyone post the question yet, so I thought I'd take this shot in the dark.
The BCD2000 is an irritating product, because I really like the layout, and apparently a lot of you do too... but getting it to work apparently is a pain in the...
Anyway, I don't know if I'll try getting one ever, or if I'll go with the Hercules thing, or just hang out for the BCD2000 version 2...LOL

For some reason my bcd-2000 uses 1.1 as default?! I tried to force it to 2.0 state without any luck....
