I tested some FLAC rips and must say - I am impressed over the clairty & detail vs MP3.
However, the midbass seems enhanced around 120hz. Compared to old RED, there is a difference.
RED is using the EGO SYS MAYA card and VDJ is using internal SOUNDMAX (basic settings).
I did not chk or compare the original MP3 (I know, but forgot).
Has anyone exp excessive mid bass w/ VDJ?

I ripped a cd with EAC (exact audio copy using flac and mp3)
the put it on both decks, almost no difference on the sony MDR EX70 in ear headphones.
Some songs appear to have bigger punch slightly. I use mp3 at 192kbps encoded with LAME.
For decoding in VDJ I use CoreFLACDecoder_0.4.exe
Loading a FLAC song into VDJ takes over 2 times more than mp3.
I noticed other thing, not the difference in sound quality (highs, punch...), but
mp3 is not time accurate. I packed armand van helden - my my my to flac and mp3 and played them, switching fader between decks and did not notice a difference. But on the graph you can see that not all beats are well aligned together. It looks like mp3 sometimes shifts a song a little.
