I use a DVinyl controller with VDJ and my Technics SL 1200 turntables. I have the following problem:
When I move the platter by hand the software (VDJ and also the soundgraph software) do not respond. The response will start when the platter spins at least at about 10 RPM. I tested it also with a phono pr amplifier between the turntable and the controller. In this case everything works ok
So in my opinion my needle and cartridge do not give the proper signal level for the controller. I use Stanton 500AL cartridges at the moment.
Are there some other users having the same problem? And for users where it is working ok, What cartridges do you use?
