Not necessary, but really nice to have Needle dropping with the Dvinyl controller.

Proto,
this would be nice to have. Especially if you are able to choose yourself what mode you prefer: "Needle drop" or "velocity mode".
Needle drop has some disadvantages think of: jumping of the needle on a instable floor. What to do when using loops or cue points the needle drop will then be out of sync.
I think setting up proper cue points in a song, select the cue point you prefer with the controller. This will be much faster than the needle drop function. On normal vinyl you are able to read the record according to the grooves. When using timecode vinyls this is not possible.
Needle drop coul only be done by replacing the records while the Soundgraph vinyls only contain "velocity" information and no "position" information

Yes this is a limitation of d-vinyl, and not Virual dj.

Ok, didnt know about the soundgraph records. Needle dropping in Final Scratch works wonders.

Because Final Scratch chose this kind of vinyl and Soundgrpah choose the relative one.

In Finalscratch this is usefull while you don't have que point (for as far as I know) and no loops.
Needle dropping when using loops makes no sense to me. Example
the timecode record is 12 minutes long
you start and start a 8 beat loop after 3 minutes. The needle is then at 1/4 of the record. Then you keep the loop running for three minutes (because you have to go to the bathroom). You exit the loop. The song is still at 3 minutes from the start, while the record is already at 6 minutes from the start (1/2 of the record). Then you pick up the needle and place it backwards (from the turntable point of view) and drop it back on at 1/3 from the start of the record. What will happen now......
You have moved the needle back but the song is placed forward from 3 minutes to 4 minutes from the start!
Do you get it?
