i was wondering about video effects and programs to run lights i saw them in some clubs but forgot the names i need some info on good tripscreen programs and good programs to control lights and what not any help would be great"video effects for a projector trip screen" thnx

There is also a visual engine built into VDJ3.x and it supports standard 'Sonique' video plugins. Go here to download some that have been tested with VDJ:

They are a bit 2 dimensional, but very useful and the price is right ;)
Lighting: There are lots of different programs out there that can do DMX, usually through a proprietary interface. I have not moved my DMX control to my computer yet, but have found this site is a good starting point for researching this: http://www.telltronics.org/software/dmx/
