I have AtomixMP3 set up on my desktop, getting ready to transfer the audio files and program to a laptop which is on order.
Is there a way to permanently tag the files with the comments field? I put comments in about 50 files last week, then needed to reload AtomixMP3 and all the tags are gone.

just copy the Atomixmp3 internal database file to your folder (and make regular back ups of that file)
